Question about Dell Latitude C400 Notebook

VEERY big letters in some websites

I cannot read some websites on my C400 as letters are huge on the screen. Sometimes the screen fits only one or two letters. Of course I set text size to smallest. but it does not help. for instance www.hotmail.com. yahoo or ebay or google - are OK. Only some websites. Any ideas/solutions?

Thank you for the suggestion! On my laptop I found resolution 1024x768, that is pretty much close I guess. No option for 1024x860. No change unfortunatelly. On many websites some letters run over others (that are smaller).. Very unconvenient!!

Go to START, CONTROL PANEL, DISPLAY, SETTINGS. There's a slider for screen size set to 1024 X 860

The screen on Firefox is huge and I can't find a way to reduce it back to normal size.

If you click on view- you will able to set your zoom back to normal size.

More than double of enlargement needed for reading. Is not too funny for such a exipensive huge big screan come up with so tiny letters?

Bigger screens have bigger resolutions and so have more desktop space. The side effect of this is things look smaller often.

Individual applications will often have settings for text "zooming" and enlargement. Often under the "view" menus.

There is a nice article here on getting the most from your monitor. You might find it interesting.

My Dell Latitude C400 PC Notebook screen flickers very fast, any ideas? thanks

It can depend on what kind of flickering you are seeing. A very very fast one, that shows more obvious if you look to the side of your screen (instead of directly at it as normal), means your screens 'refresh rate' is most likely wrong.
That's the most likely problem you have, as the inverter will usualy only make a screen flash, not flicker, though they don't usually flash too much before the bulb or inverter can't take the strain and breaks properly.
Sometimes a screens circuit can go slightly faulty (very rare) and cause a slight change in its refresh cycle, and that can cause a high speed flickering too, usually accompanied with a very slight blurring of any images.
The standard setting for a C400 is 1024 x 768 resolution at 60 Hertz, so check your display properties to see that's not been accidentally changed.

DELL BIOS password is unknown for DEL C400

Dell keeps a master code for each of their machines. All you have to do is transfer ownership of the machine into your name, if it isn't already, and give tech support a call, and they'll give you the code over the phone. You can transfer ownership at Dell's support site, there a subcategory on the left of the screen that reads "ownership transfer". Here's a link for the tech support number.

Dell C400 will not boot using LCD screen when cold

I have seen this problem before, after booting to the external monitor go into the display settings and try setting the resolution to 1024 X 768 and the color settng to 16 bit or preferably 32 bit. If you can do this, then shut down the laptop remove the external monitor and try booting on the LCD display. BPCS

Big letters

Try holding the Ctrl Key and scrolling the mouse wheel to reduce the size. You may have magnifier running. Click the Windows plus U to bring up the utility screen and turn it off.
