Scanner bar will not move to scan the paper to be copied.

Check under the scanner, there is a scanner lock that you may have hit removing copies. Its most likely in the locked position and stopping scan.

L1 or L1-00 indicates Scanner movement failure. The scanner is the part under the glass that lights up and moves back and forth. So if you lift up the feeder so you can see the glass, turn the machine off for a few seconds then back on. Watch the movement of the scanner. It should move right and inch or two then back to the left. If all goes well the copier should come to ready. Lay a piece of paper on the glass and press the print button to watch the scanner movement. If it binds up or does not scan correctly there are 2 possibilities.
1) your scanner lock is engaged and is preventing the scanner from moving. Check the clear plastic dial located under the far left upper side of the copier, near where the paper exits the machine. Make sure it is in the unlocked position.
2) Your scanner rail is dirty and dry. This rail can be seen under the glass towards the back of the copier. The scanner rides on this rail. It is very common for these to get dirty and for the grease to dry up causing the scanner to freeze up on the rail. The glass must be removed and the rail cleaned and lubricated.
Just power off then on the copier to reset.

The Scanner home sensor maybe bad or dust mite be on it (it is what telle the copier where the scanner start position is. Or the motor for the scanner maybe bad or the scanner circuit board

Your copy lamp is faulty or scanner drive is not moving. Check the lamp and replace if not lighting.
If its the scanner, unlock the scanner lock above the paper exit tray.

Hi:

This might refer to your scanner assy being locked. The scanner assy is the unit under the glass that scans your document prior to copying it. Look inside the cavity where you pick up your completed copies. Look at the upper left corner and see if there is a knob there. If there is, make sure it is in the completely unlocked position.

Sounds like your scanner is jammed or the scanner motor has failed.

If you are so inclined, turn the power off, you can remove the glass and try to move the scanner by hand, if you can't move it then it is jammed, if you can move it to the middle and turn the machine back on, does it return it to its home position? if so, the motor may be OK, but the control board may have a problem, if not, the motor have likely failed.

the scanner lock could be on. This is located above the paper exit
trat. It has a knob with a picture of a lock. It shoulb be in the lock position. The scanner bar could be dirty. This is located under the copier glass.
