Question about Dymo LetraTag 2000 Printer

Dymo Letra Tag

Do these hand held machines need re-inking? The printing is very faded. If they do where do I get the ink (I haven't seen it in stores) and where do I install it.

It runs on heat transfer. It probably needs new batterys. If youve been on a labeling spree you've most likel killed it.

Replace the 6 AA batteries and the printing should be solid. NOT an ink cartridge -- thermal transfer

Does this have ink why does it say it's thermal I have a Letra Tag

It doesn't have separate ink. The label tape is heat sensitive and the text is printed by a thermal printhead which heats the tape to change color.

The print on my dymo letra tag is very faint, how to fix?

The first thing you should do is check the batteries. Because the LetraTag requires heat to generate thermal printing, not ink, the batteries need to be well charged. Also, there is a small brush fitted to the inside of the lid of the cartridge cover, that is for cleaning the print head and roller. Remove it, dampen the felt tip with a little rubbing alcohol, and gently clean the print head and roller. You should find this will improve the print quality 100%

Changing ink?

I had the same problem. I just put in new batteries and it is printing fine. Are your batteries low?

Ink is fading on my qx50

Dymo Labellers don't use ink, they are thermal printers. When the print fades it usually means the batteries are running out.

I have to assume you are pressing the print button. That being the case, either your batteries are weak or the tape is empty or jammed.
