SOURCE: graphing syntax error

To draw graphs.

  1. Turn calculator ON (isn't that obvious?)
  2. If you see no icons, press [MENU]
  3. Use arrow to move focus on GRAPH and press [EXE]
  4. By default, the graph type is Y=
  5. Enter your equation on line Y1=, use the [X,theta,T] key to enter the X-variable
  6. Press [EXE] when finished entering a function.
  7. Enter other functions if you want.
  8. When done, press [F6:Draw].
  9. If you do not see a big portion of the curve you can press [SHIFT] [F2:Zoom] and select [F5:Auto]
I am enclosing screen captures. The screens you see may not look exactly as on the FX-9750G, but all menu commands you have to execute are accessed by the same key sequences.

To enter powers of trigonometric functions you must enclose the functions in parentheses and then apply the exponent to the whole. For example X1t =(sin T)^3 , Y1t=(cos T)^3 will give you a shape similar to a rhombus with concave sides. The symbol ^syands for the operation of raising to a power. The key is the one with the caret symbol ^ , and it is wedged between the xsqure and EXIT keys (third row of keys).
As regards the cotangent, use the equivalent definition cot(X)=1/tan(X).

When drawing function graphs of type Y1=, the name of the independent variable should be X
For polar graphs r=.., the independent variable is theta, while for parametric graphs it is T
To enter the default independent variable, press the key marked [X,Theta, T] . It will type in the correct name.

I have a casio fx-9750 g2.Whenever i try to dra w a graph it always get a syntax error the manual has not helped.kindly assist.

Please give the exact examples you were trying to graph. The syntax error points to an error in the input line, such as using the minus sign instead of the change sign (-).

How do I graph a simple equation, without getting an error 07 message? y=-1.5x+3

Error 07 Syntax
Means you made a typing error while entering the equation. Using the minus sign instead of the negation sign (change sign) (-), can produce a syntax error. Maybe you need to explicitly type the multiplication sign
y= (-) 1.5*x +3
Try entering it as 3 - 1.5*x

Graphing calculator argument error

The function you give as example in the additional information to your duplicate post is too simple to generate an Argument error. Maybe a syntax error but not an argument error.
Check what you enter on the line that defines the function. Do not confuse the minus sign - (for subtraction) and the change sign (negation sign) marked (-).
You can also reset your calculator by pressing the button on the back.

This happened to me. I left my calculator open in my bag and accidentally on the 20th function there was a multiply sign, so the calculator would directly output syntax error. Scroll down and check all your function slots are clear.

When i did y= and put in -x+3 for Y1 and (x-1) divided by -3 and hit graph, it says ERR:SYNTAX please help. im trying to solve linear systems by graphing.

Try rewriting your equations in the equivalent forms that follow.
Y1=3-X
Y2=(1-X)/3

If you do not get a syntax error it means that you were not using the correct minus sign.
If the - is the first symbol after the equal sign you must use negation (-) or change sign key.
Similarly, after the division / key you must use the negation or change sign (-)
