Tripping circuit breaker

Every day at noonish the breaker outside gets tripped on the spa. Ive shut down all motors and heater and it still happens. If I reset it I can run all pumps and heat at the same time for 30 minutes with no problem at all. The breaker is 10 years old and this problem has never happened before. this is a sundance optima 2002 spa

Hi Kathy
Sometimes when a breaker keeps tripping, it will wear and will be in need of replacement...try replacing the breaker and see if that solves your problem.
If not then check the amps on the pump and make sure the breaker is able to hand the amperage the pump is requiring.

My lazy spa has been fine for 18 months and is now tripping electrics every time I put on to heat and filter

if your hot tub is tripping the breaker, it could be due to a worn out ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) breaker, which is responsible for preventing electrical surges. You can try flipping the breaker to see if it trips again. If it does, then you may need to replace the breaker.

Another possible cause of the problem could be loose electrical connections in your hot tub . This can lead to power fluctuations that cause your hot tub circuit breaker to trip. Professional electricians can inspect your hot tub and tighten any connections that are loose, which should fix the circuit breaker problem.

If your spa is not receiving power, you should check your home's circuit breaker to ensure that it's not tripped . Reset the circuit breaker if it's tripped to restore power to the spa. If the circuit breaker keeps tripping, it may be an indication of an electrical problem, and you should call a professional electrician to diagnose and fix the issue

I have a spa berry 2 person hot tub. Tried resetting it but as soon as I let go of the reset button it trips the breaker. Can't get it to stay on. Tub is 4 yrs old. Where do we start?

Melisa, Breaker/GFI may be going bad. You may have to get an electrician to check for short or faulty motor/heater, etc. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

After being turned off for 4 days through Hurricane Irene... the pump will trip the breaker whenever we turn it on. The switch is good. We can only assume maybe the water is wet. Any suggestions?

I assume when you say breaker you mean a Ground Fault Circuit Interupter (GFCI) breaker or receptacle. If this is the case then what happens is water can get into devices such as pumps and the water can cause unintended electrical paths from 120VAC nodes to the motor frame which is grounded. The GFCI is designed to detect a nominal 5 mA of current to ground and trip. If the GFCI is tripping I would let the motor dry out for a day (if the weather is dry) and try it again.

If by tripping you mean a standard beaker without a test button is tripping then it is tripping because of high current. If this is the case then it may be a water problem but you are just as likely to have a short in the wiring or the motor. I would try shutting off the safety switch, disconnecting the wires to the motor and wrapping the exposed wires with electrical tape. If you turn the switches on that would normally turn on the pump and the breaker again trips you have a problem in the switches or wires. If the breaker does not trip you have a motor problem. You can try to dry it out but probably it has an internal metalic short. If you have access to the location is you could fix it but if not the motor will need to be replaced. I hope this helps.

I have a Sundance Spa that has started tripping the breaker

It is unlikely the Breaker is BAD, that just doesn't happen. To trip a breaker there MUST be an Overload, or a Short circuit, that's it. You will have to use a meter an troubleshoot the system. Something is very wrong..please use the links below to troubleshoot and repair. Please Be careful. http://spababes.com/heaterhelp.html

High speed spa pump shuts off

The motor may have a thermal cutoff if the motor draws too much current. Do you have a sufficient large gauge circuit supplying the motore? If not the actual voltage at the motor may drop, causing it to draw more current to make up for the loss of voltage, thereby tripping the motor's protective breaker. I assume the motor will start again after serveral minutes of cooling down.
