I have a Whirlpool stove, model GS440LEMB. When I try to turn on the oven sometimes I will hear it "kicking on" and the oven becomes mildly warm but does not become hot. It cycles through the preheat cycle and the display shows that is it at 350 degrees but it is not. This happens most of the time. Once in a while when I turn on the oven it really does get hot, but stops heating after 30 minutes to an hour. When this happens I can usually start it again and it heats up again but needs to preheat since the temperature has dropped. When it was under warranty it had some parts replaced, including the control board twice. Does anyone have any idea of what part could be causing this problem?

SOURCE: Oven does not maintain temperature while cooking.

Is this a gas unit? If so you might have a weak oven igniter.

SOURCE: Amana Convection oven not controlling temp

I have just checked the baking guide in the manual and have found that it may not be us after all. (Maybe this is why they telll us to read the whole manual. Well, I never have) According to the cooking time for Baking, the range is very extensive. For example, an angel cake at 350 could take from 28-50 minutes, buscuits at 375-400 could take 8-16 minutes, layer cakes at 350-375 could take 25-40 minutes, pound cakes at 325-350 could take 45-70 minutes and fresh pies at 400-450 could take 35-60 minutes. Basically, the baking directions on the box means absolutely nothing to use Amana oven owners. We have no choice but to cook our food or baked goods until they are cooked, whenever that may be. :) Linda

SOURCE: Oven sometimes doesn't heat up. Sometimes heats up

This sounds like a weak igniter, it would have to be a gas oven and the symtoms usually are: takes longer than normal to ignite the burner, may or may not smell gas in the oven, does not maintain set temperature, eventually won't heat at all. On gas ovens, a glo igniter is like a light bulb, the more you cook, the faster it wears out. Bottom line, needs to be replaced. Good luck.

SOURCE: I have a KitchenAid double oven with convection on

it will either be the sensor or the board, hopefully it's not the board, the part number for the sensor is 4455636 and subs to w10131825,the sensor is around 100 bucks, there should be a tech sheet on the machine most likely behind the touch pad on the top,it will tell you how to check the sensor with a meter, just unplug the sensor and read it out i think it's around 1100 ohms but check that on the tech sheet,if it's not the sensor most likely it will be the board part number 4453661 and that's around 300 buckseverything runs through this computer board but the sensor tells it how hot it is in the oven hopefully you have a bad sensor.let me know what you find, you'll most likely have to pull the oven to repair it but maybe just enough to get the top open, good luck

Whirlpool owners manual gas stove W10198615D

Most Whirlpool model numbers start with two or three letters and have another two letters later in the number. W10198615D may be your serial number or a Lowe's product number, not the Whirlpool model number.

Usually though the model number and serial number aren't on the back of the stove. The plaque with this data is on the rim of the oven behind the warming or storage drawer.

The manuals that are available are here: https://www.whirlpool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/OCManualsLiteratureSearchView?catalogId=10561&langId=-1&storeId=10211&krypto=5QgxQhneFliXuEuX564wSQ%3D%3D&ddkey=http:OCManualsLiteratureSearchView .

Please recheck your model number and post a comment with the correct model number. I'll be glad to try to get the correct manual for you.

I wish that I could be of more help right now.

My kenmore W&R locked to start the cleaning process and never turned on, but now won't open. It's been 4 hours.

Verify that the Whirlpool oven is connected to its power source. The oven may sometimes lock down if experiencing a power surge or similar electrical problems. Additionally, check that a fuse hasn't been blown in your home's fuse box. Some older homes may not have the proper wiring to support a high-powered appliance such as a Whirlpool oven. If you are not sure if your wiring is sufficient, consult a local electrician.
  • Check to see if the Whirlpool oven's Control Lock has been turned on, a safety mechanism designed to lock the oven and disable its keypad and display controls. A padlock symbol will be displayed in the corner of the Whirlpool oven's front display panel if it is locked. The oven will not unlock itself on its own even if it is disconnected from its power source. To disable, press and hold the "3" button on the keypad for five seconds until the padlock icon disappears.
  • See if the Whirlpool oven is engaged in its self-cleaning cycle. During the self-cleaning process, the stove will lock its front door and will flash "OVEN LOCKED" on its front display. This is to prevent users from accidentally opening the oven and burning themselves during the high-heat segment in the cleaning process. If you must open the oven, first stop the process by pressing and holding the "OFF/CANCEL" button on the stove's control panel. If the oven remains locked, wait for the internal temperatures to decrease. The locking mechanism is temperature controlled and will not unlock until internal temperatures have cooled.
  • Contact Whirlpool's service department if your Whirlpool oven remains locked and you cannot troubleshoot it or open it. All Whirlpool self-cleaning ovens are covered for five years after the original purchase date. Call the warranty team for assistance by dialing toll-free (800) 253-1301 in the United States, or (800) 807-6777 in Canada. Be prepared to give the oven's model number and purchase date

Stove top ignitors do not ignite but oven does.

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good “blue” arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.

Stove works fine, only the oven will not turn on.

If it's electric, it is possible that you are only getting 110 volts to the range. It runs on a 220v line, so if one leg of the circuit kicks off, you could still operate the top burners. If this isnt the problem, you may have burned out your bake element. Try your broil element.
