1. Press the FLASH/program button until 1ENG 2FRA 3ESP shows in the display. 2. Use the CID/VOL (left or right arrow) button or the handset number pad to select 1 (English), 2 (French), or 3 (Spanish). The default setting is "1ENG". 3. Press the FLASH/program button to confirm and to advance to the next menu feature.

I think I found a solution. On my phone model 27996GE3-A, I unplugged the phone for a few seconds, plugged it back in and waited until the display showed the number of messages and then I pressed the "skip" and "review" buttons at the same time and then it announced the the language changed to english. Hope this helps.
To resolve this issue hold down the skip button for 2-3 seconds and it will change back to English.
My phone is mfg by Thomson, go to their website www.thompsonnetworks.com for the manual, just key in the 5 digit model number, you do not need to type in GE. Hope this solves your problem
Just as the other answers that were left...you just have to press the skip button. Just make sure that you press announce on the cradle...not on the phone...then when you hear the voice in Spanish just press and HOLD the skip button until it changes to English. Good Luck
