I turned on the TV this morning. It was on for about 30 minutes that I heard a sound and the colors immediately were off. It reset itself after about a minute, but then it did it again.
I used the remote to try to correct the convergence, but the red won't move enough. I went to the multi red and the lines in the middle were OK, but on the left they were too far left, on the right, too far right.
I tried turning off the tv and back on, but the problem is still there.
Is this something that I may be able to fix, or am I going to have to pay to fix this?

Re: Rear Projection/Convergance Problem
If you can solder and know components and how they work, you can fix, but the convergence is a hard area to work on. So I would say if you have no or low experience then let tech. There are bad resistors on convergence board. Also maybe loose connection around converg. amps. Hope this helps!

I had the exact same problem with my Magnavox TV. The screen would shrink then expand. After thrity minutes it would correct itself. Then one day it just broke - no sound and no video. I searched these forums but did not find clear instructions or kits on how to fix it. I gave up and called in a repair tech. He fixed my TV in less than 30 minutes.
To help others I documented the fix and created a repair kit and step by step quide on how to fix the problem. You can find it here. http://www.magnavoxhelp.com
sounds like the high voltage transformer arc or one of the picture tubes arc causing the convergance ic to go bad you can try to replace the IC heres a site to help: http://home.earthlink.net/~oleg.filippov/ConvergenceFix.htm
Short in powersupply check secondary fuse and all other fuses too. Were there a color problem before this/ Because most of these set have convergence problems. The amps May need to be changed and resistors around them.
