SOURCE: My Pride Mobility Celebrity X Scooter appears to be dead.
Many people have problems with their Pride scooters.
Pride refuses to issue any information or schematics, telling the customer to visit their dealer for chargable service.
Guess what !! The dealers don't have the info or schematics or service manuals either !!!
There are known faults and flaws in the Pride designs.
Look under the 'hood' for the controller - big box with heavy wires connected to the motor. Write down the manufacturer and model number from the data plate.
Go to the manufacturer's web site and get your manuals and info there. Curtis 1228 is a common model.
Also, pay attention to the temperature limits, and EMF / RFI sensitivity -- big problem !!
Finally, if your dealer service rep suggested offsetting the throttle handle slightly for more speed, he may have created another problem -- all controllers have a PROGRAMMED deadband, shifting the centering of the throttle lever throws the whole system out of balance - integral part of original setup.
Bottom line - find a reliable independent instrumentation and controls service person who is familiar with programmed electronic motor controllers.
Good Luck
SOURCE: The scooter will just start beeping 7 times and then won't go.
Call pride. That is under warranty. The will replace it.
SOURCE: how many fuses does it have?
Hi. Check the battery lead connectors, and the motor lead connectors. I have seen connectors that have melted the plastic because of a bad connection.
Also check the motor brushes to see if they are stuck or worn.
The brushes are held in with black plastic caps. Be carefull doing these up, as they can crack if done up to tight, but they need to be firm.
Good luck. Neil.
