When the Imaging Drum LED stays solid on, it means your imaging drum is running low and will soon need to be replaced. You can unseat, then reseat it and see if that solves the problem.

If everything is printing fine, don't do anything until the LED starts flashing. HP will tell you to replace the drum immediately, but mine was on for a year, with moderate printing, before going to the flashing, "empty" state. This is the same advice as for toner cartridges, which are sometimes as much as 50% full when the light comes on.

However, I suggest sourcing a new drum so you can be prepared for when the existing one goes out. Also, despite HP's warnings of gloom and doom, aftermarket products work acceptably.

Hi, we have the hp color laserjet 2840 series and we are getting a supply error (10.1004). The picture shows that there is a problem with our imaging drum. We bought a brand new imagind drum and it is...

Reseat the toner cartridge. Turn the printer off, and then back on again. You may want to try a new cartridge, but if that does not eliminate the error, call your HP support line. If the imaging-drum light is still blinking but the Attention light is not on, you must replace the imaging drum before the printer can continue printing. The imaging-drum light might be blinking by itself or at the same time another light is on or blinking. If another light is also on or blinking, turn the imaging-drum light off in the simulator and turn the other light on or blinking to isolate the condition. The printer has determined that it cannot read or write to the e-label on the imaging drum.Reseat the imaging drum, and then power cycle the printer. If this does not work, replace the imaging drum. If the imaging drum light is still blinking but the Attention light is not on, turn the printer off, and then back on. If the problem persists, replace the imaging drum E-label reader. The imaging-drum light might be blinking by itself or at the same time another light is on or blinking. If Hope that this helps,, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Thanks,Joe

Light directly below the four color cartridge lights is blinking. Won't print. Can't find my owners manual

If error number 40204 was writtent to the error log, the imaging drum is either empty or missing (I would suspect empty). If error number 10004 was written to the error log, the imaging drum e-reader may have failed. So, in either case, reinsert the imaging drum. If the light continues to blink and the Attention light (exclamation point in a triangle) is not on, turn the printer off and then back on. If this does not clear the error, replace the imaging drum with a new one. Again, if the light continues to blink and the Attention light is off, turn the printer off and then back on.

If the error persists after these steps, let us know and we can persue other options.

After you replace the imaging drum, you should reset the imaging drum's counter. To reset the counter, press and hold the Cancel button until all lights flash in sequence.

You will need to replace the image drum. This is either due to the face that you have exceeded the number of pages/cycles that the drum supports or the drum has damage. If this is the drum that came with the printer, it is likely they shipped it with "starter" supplies which last a fraction of the time as the regular "full retail" replacement supplies. A URL for HP's instructions on how to replace tn image drum on the HPCLJ 2550 series follows:
