There is a thermal sensor in the motor which shuts power off if it gets too hot but usually it won't turn back on until it cools down. It seems you might have a defective switch

SOURCE: Hoover wind tunnel vacuum cleaner shuts off during use

Check the inlet down by the brush roll to make sure it isn't clogged. If not and the hose isn't clogged, then probably the thermo protector (part #28382093) maybe bad. It is mounted near the motor. Could be motor Part #43576188. But I would suspect a clog in the inlet or hose, or the thermo protector has gone bad.

SOURCE: Hoover Wind Tunnel 2 won't stay on

Possible that the switch is bad, part #40309033, take the handle off, then the tool compartment, then you can get to the switch, almost bet that one of the contacts is bad.

SOURCE: hoover mach 5 only used 3 times

If the filters are ok, and there is no clog in the hose or dirt inlet down by the brushroll, then the motor protector is probably bad.

SOURCE: Hoover Wind Tunnel ON/Off Switch

Replace the rocker switch inside the handle. Part #28161067, it's about $2.50.

SOURCE: replace on/off switch on hoover vacuum

My wife picked one up on the side of the road that someone had tossed. The power switch would not turn off. I took the two bolts out of the top part of the handle, and then removed the screws along the back. This will remove the required panels to access the On/Off switch. Once I found the actual on/off button, I found it to be frozen in the "ON" position. After manipulating it for a few minutes, I got the switch to work. This machine now operates great, and I now have a Hoover :)

My hoover wind tunnel just quit while vacuuming. It is dead??? Two years old used about every other week? Any suggestions?

Some Wind Tunnels by Hoover have a poor design in the switch on the handle. Sometimes the switch does not turn on all the way and will stop running. Other times you can't turn the unit off.

Filter in Hoover Wind Tunnel Vacuum

Definitely not. Do not use water or any liquids to clean it. Te normal use life is 2-3 years keeping it maintained. You can clean it dry with the dust brush from your vac attachments. place in a plastic bag and tap it some folks even us an air compressor to blow out the impacted dirt. you will only want to use the Hoover brand, other generic brands dont fit as well.

Hoover Self Propelled Wind Tunnel Turbo Powered 7600 The thin belt too loose

If this is a "V" belt, make sure the small roller that tightens the belt is ok and not jammed up. It may have to be replaced. Also if the flat belt is stretched at all, it won't work either.
