Keep getting incompatible disc error

Using JVC video camera with JVC CU-VD10; using Sony DVD-R but it keeps telling me incompatible. On page 4 of burner manual it recommends Sony DVD-R

already have tried....maxell, verbatim, and office depot brand. Sony, TDK and JVC are the recommended. That is why I went with Sony

Hi, A couple of things you can do/try (pls disregard if done): 1. Check disc compatibility - DVD-R (2-16X), DVD-RW (2-4X); 2. Check if disc is double layer. Double layers cannot be used if CU-VD10 is connected to either PC or camera (std are 4.7 Gb DVD, double layer are 8Gb disc); 3. Check disc size (8 or 12 cm). 8cm discs can only be used if connected to PC; 4. Use a CD lens cleaner; 5. Connect to a PC as an external DVD and try playing a known good DVD movie. If it can playback normally then presumably nothing wrong with the read function and therefore should read blank compatible DVDs. A possible temporary work around if problem persist is to download the movie from the camera to the PC then burn to the CU-VD10 as an external burner using Nero or other burner software. Hope this be of some idea/help. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.

Sounds like there last on one of the units has worn out I'm afraid. Can you not try on a different burner as if that works then at least you'll know which unit is faulty.

Problem formatting the disks

Your burner has gone south. You can try a firmware upgrade to possible correct the issue but if that does not do the trick then the burner needs to be replaced.
