SOURCE: dc25 animal. front brush not working
Hi there,
Your DC25 is equipped with a sensor which shuts off the brushbar if something jams it. Once you've checked the cleaner head is free of obstructions and removed any threads or hair from around the brushbar, you should be able to reset the machine. For assistance in doing this, please follow the steps shown in the video below.
Please note, it will not be necessary to remove the soleplate as suggested by Spizlarkie. The automatic shut-off feature protects the belt from breaking, and disassembling the cleaner head to this extent will void the machine's 5-year guarantee.
I hope this helps- if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please call our customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US). You can also find information on using and maintaining your machine by visiting www.dyson.com and clicking 'Support'.
Best wishes,
Jack

SOURCE: beater brush won't spin but belt is intact and ok.
For your beater brush to spin, you have to meet two conditions:
1) the vacuum cleaner has to be reclined (put your foot on the front and pull back on the handle).
2) The clutch actuator (the dial where you switch between BEAR FLOORS and CARPETS needs to be set to CARPETS).
If the brushbar/beater bar still doesn't spin after that, call the Dyson helpline, they will assist you. If you are saying that the brushbar isn't spinning because it is not picking up any dirt, you may have a loose internal hose, a blockage in the machine or the bristles on the brushbar are worn. Call the Dyson helpline for assistance.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.
You may find it useful to remove the soleplate from the base of the machine and make sure that the brush bar is fitted correctly.
Once this is done, make sure there are no hairs or threads wrapped around the brush barm, particularly
at the ends.
With the soleplate removed you can also ensure that the brush bar and housing are free of blockages.
Once checked, re-fit the soleplate and test the machine.
I hope that this information is useful to you. If you need any further help or advice, contact one of our Ask Dyson experts on 1866MYDYSON.
Kind regards
Darran

Next to the power switch is another button, this switches the brushbar on and off. The brushbar can be turned off for hard floor surfaces so as not to scratch them
