Question about Dometic RM2852 Refrigerator

1 Answer

I have a 2009 toy hauler with a dm 2852, freezer is cold, but the refrigerator is not cold enough. I know there is a temp sensor that attaches to the condensor and I have it as high as it will go on the finns. Does it have to go to the left as well?? The cable is not very long to allow any other movement, can anyone help me?? [email protected] Thanks

I have the same fridge in a 2009 Heartland Cyclone 3950. Just recently had the same problem. Is your fridge in a slideout? If so, in order to vent out the wall (as opposed to a fridge NOT in a slideout, they vent through the roof, and sometimes don't have fans) - the fan must come on to assist with hot air movement. If you have not heard the fan come on, go outside and check in the access panels.

On mine, the fan is mounted inside, just under the top opening. The thermal switch that operates the fan is mounted to the fins at the top. After verifying I had power, I bypassed the thermal switch and connected the wires together - the fan runs 24/7 now (until I install my new switch) and its cooling like new! I have a 2009 toy hauler with a dm 2852, freezer - smile.gif For the DM2852 model fridge, the Dometic part number is: 3104133.016

I called Dometic myself and got the part number in order for the "authorized service center" to order it - he had no parts breakdown for this section of my fridge. The fridge has a 3 year warranty, so I let the service center order the part for me - free of charge - otherwise I could have paid for it straight from Dometic.

I have a 2852 model doesn't seem to be cold enough

RV refrigerators will not always get as cold as your home refrigerator because they operate on a heat absorption principle rather than cold induction. The first thing you need to do is determine the temperature. Place a thermometer in a glass of tap water and set the glass inside the refrigerator and allow it to set for 24 hours without opening the refrigerator. Check it after 24 hours to determine the temp. It should be around 33-38 degrees. Let me know what the results are.

Frigidaire refrigerator with a broken freezer

He is correct. The temp in the refrig controls how often and for how long the refrig runs. Lets say the temp in your garage is 34 degrees, and you have your refrig set to 36 degrees: The refrig will never run, the fresh foods section will cool to 34, and the freezer will warm to 34. Even if the temp is 45 in the garage and you set the fresh foods to be 33, the refrig will not need to run long enough and often enough to keep the freezer temp cold enough. You will most likely need to have the ambient room temp at least 55 degrees to get satisfactory refrigerator performance. Insulating the refrig will not help. (by the way, outdoor beverage vending machines use an internal heater in cold weather to prevent liquid beverages inside from freezing,..... so using that info, you could put a low wattage heater in your refrig to make your refrig run enough to make the freezer section work. The %&#* with that, just move it into the house!)

Dometic 2852 freezer gets cold but refridge does not

If your freezer is getting down close to zero degrees (F) then I doubt that your refrigerant is low. The most common cause of the refrigerator section not getting cool (approximately 40 degrees (f)) is a fan that pulls the coils in the freezer into the refrigerator has failed. A very common failure of a cheep little fan motor. Normally that fan is behind a panel in the freezer section at the bottom. Determine where the cold air in the refrigerator section normally enters and the fan will be above there.

Same problem freezer is ice cold and the fridge is warm.

Make sure that the knob that controls the opening of the vent so the cold air in the freezer get to the refrigerator is operating. If it does, I don't see any reason why the refrigerator should not work.

Freezer compartment on refrigerator not cold enough

depending on the temp it could
if the ambient temp get below 32
you freezer wont come on and actually begin to get warm (insulation factor)
but the refer will seem cold because of the low ambiant temp is the temp inside
we go in the refer alot more than the freezer
