My Kodak EasyShare C340 Digital Camera is relatively new. At times it works perfectly. But it seems that when it's most important,it does'nt work. I have missed great once in a lifetime wedding, graduation etc. shots. I'll turn the camera on, and without warning, the green light flashes and then turns to red.The screen doesn't light up and I can't take a picture. Even with fresh batteries I have this problem. Sometimes it will work if I turn the camera off and then turn it on again, but not always. Sometimes it will work if I take the batteries out and put them back in, but not always. What could be causing this?

hi open the battary comparment, remove the battery and check to see if there is a small button like thing (looks something like a small horn) there if yes then, press and hold it for roughly 20 secs and release reinsert battery and try powering on this would reset the camera to original factory settings at a hardware level
Fixing your problem could be as simple as cleaning the battery contacts
in the camera, or the solution could be a lot more complex and
expensive. Here's a link to the Kodak Help Center - it provides a
simple Q&A format to diagnose the problem and propose a solution.
My EasyShare was doing the same thing your post describes, which is how I came to be at this website. I tried the one suggestion of turning on camera (I did so to the 'Auto' setting), then pressing the |O|/i button, which is the button below the 'delete' and above 'menu' next to the screen. That didn't work for me. I then tried the suggestion with the other modes on the power dial, no luck.
I then, from the off position, turned the dial the other way, to the 'favorites' icon, and it worked! I didn't have a memory card in at the time, so it made a noise almost like saying "uh-oh", with the message 'no images in favorites'. I then turned it off, then turned it to 'auto' again, good to go! The lens opened, green light remained on in all modes.
