I have a canon multipass 730, that won't feed correctly. I've been trying to clean the roller via the maintenance menu, have examine the pathway as best I can, turned it on & off, cleaned & aligned the heads. When people say to clean the roller, there is a roller on the R that seems to be cushiony, not shiny. So it seems that's ok.

Same feeding pattern wherein the rt side (looking down at it) feeds, but the l side seems not to.

printer is only pulling the paper on the right side.

  • Lothlill Mar 26, 2008

I have a similiar problem with a HP DeskJet 5740. It takes the paper and feeds it through at an angle...then it jams. Have opened the back and cleared all the jammed paper, turned it on and off and it still does it. It looks like the paper may be catching a the top of the page has nicks in it.

Any ideas or is it time to invest in a new one?

    Thanks

I had the same problem. Turned out it was a paper clip that dropped into the left side of the printer (as you are facing it).

  • Anonymous Sep 06, 2008

Help! I have a fairly new printer that keeps pulling mainly on the right side....when the left side does ngrob on the paper crumples in the middle and the paper is printed on at strange angles.

I'd hate to have to replace it for this problem.

    Thanks

  • rbgirl Sep 10, 2008

OI have a Lexmark X1270. I have the same issue, where the paper pulls on the right side of the printer. Sometimes, even multiple pages are pulled through. I tried shaking it and holding a pencil to the left side (like the suggestions states). Nothing has worked. When I finally called a Lexmark Technical Support person, all they could do was send me a Lexmark coupon to purchase a new one online.

It is so sad that we have become such a wasteful society, that many times, the solution is to "buy a new one"!!

The roller is only pulling a little on the right side, and I cant print anything. The printer says please load paper because the roller isnt pulling the paper.

  • Anonymous Feb 05, 2009

I've got this Printer and only used it a few times and then just the other day for no reason at all it started feeding the paper through at a wonky angle. I'm watching the rollers as its doing it and there is no visible reason for it to happen :(. Need to print job application!!! :'(

Something probably fell into that tiny pinch of an area where the paper goes. I have found everything from a Tostito crumb to a chip of drywall blocking my paper feed. Flip your machine over, poke it if you have to, and shake it around til the little bugger falls out.

I shook mine upside down and out fell a plastic piece. I could of sworn I looked down in there and nothing was there. But read your findings of chips and twa la MY PRINTER WORKS NOW.

Toss the canon. Mine last two have died like that... one after 1.5 years, this newest 4300Pix after only a few months. Starts to feed the paper crooked, seems like there is a jam, but never one, no paper jammed. Product control is terrible with most printers now.

Have same problem with x1270. Fixed it by using glue on a pencil to the opposite side of the paper tray from the roller. This acts as a guide that prevents the paper from rotating while being pulled.

where do I glue the pencil? through the top, or down under on the tray- I really love this printer- I've had it for about 4-5 years, and would like to keep it, especially since I just bought new ink cartridges! Any help you can give...

I have a Canon PRIXMA 190, it's a couple months old and I hardly use it and when I do it's fine... until now. It too has formed this habit of pulling the papers in to the right corner. Why they don't have this magic paper pulling roller in the center so it grabs the whole page I don't know. The more I have this problem I begin to believe it's designed so we have to, as someone else mentioned, "get a new one."

How to replace pickup rollers

This should help. Good luck !

Cassette (Tray 2) paper pickup and feed rollers

To remove the paper pickup and feed rollers

1 Remove the cassette.

2 Locate the two rollers on the bottom of the paper pickup unit (above the cassette). The pickup

roller is the smaller roller, and the feed roller is the larger roller.

3 Pinch the tab on the end of the cassette pickup roller (callout 1), and pull the roller out.

4 Pinch the tab on the end of the cassette feed roller (callout 2), and pull the roller out.

Figure 6-24 Removing the cassette pickup and feed rollers

Note Always replace the cassette pickup roller and the cassette feed rollers at the same time. Also replace
the separation roller (located in the paper cassette) when replacing these rollers

Paper wont feed propaly

It sounds like the motor on the left side went out. If it's a brand new printer your best bet would probably be exchange it at the store or see if the manufaturer has a warrenty. If it's an older printer I probably wouldn't try to get it repaired, printers are getting cheaper these days and it probably wouldn't be much more to get a new one.

Paper pulls to the right, jams, won't print, tried different paper still won't print

Hi,
Sounds like the feed rollers need cleaning.
Clean the feed rollers, lint free cloth, bottled water.
wait for them to properly dry

Revolve the feed roller bar as you clean them, to clean the feed rollers all the way round, remove all particles from them.

Check you ADF grips are set correctly, if not you will get mis-fed sheets. check the tray is sat properly too or mis-feeds.

Check paper size is correct in print properties too.
Should be good then
Try print.

Regards
Richard.

Take one of those flat plastic rulers and push it through all over.. so that any forein ripped paper whatever, clears the way.. The paper is supposed to buckle on entry.. That's how it's designed. It could be a timing issue.. when the paper is fed in it buckles against the timing roller.. the roller turns only when its supposed to. Each sheet stays buckled against the timing roller until it turns, that's how the machine draws only one piece at a time. It's could be the feed clutch.. There's a little magnetic clutch that actuates the feed roller to pull the paper in. when this feed clutch gets weak it barely works or it slips and doesn't pull the paper in at the right time. I've replaced these often on my equipment.. but I've also found that static electricity plays a big role. If your area is too dry, the paper sticks together increasing the resistance, pulling either multiple pages or just too much resistance for the feed rollers.. screwing up the time.. Make all adjustments to the feed rollers first to ensure it's not a huge problem before you start looking for a clutch. Essentially if the paper doesnt make it into the feed roller on time it is a timing issue.. but it's starting from the feed rollers.

Lexmark z2300 printer won't pull in paper

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.
