Double Picture We have a ultravision digital hdt big screen TV. Yesterday, when we turned it on, it has a double picture. All of the words are double and even the pictures are double with a green color to the part that is double or like a shadow. This is on every channel. We have a dish. We have turned this off and then back on. All the indicator lights are on as if everything was normal. Any suggestions? We would like to try and avoid expensive on repair charges if there is something we can try ourselves first? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

MB, your set has one or more defective LCD panel tabs. The only true fix is to replace the screen which will be big $$$. There are youtube videos that will show you how to patch the problem. Just search LCD panel tabs and several videos should come up.

That symptoms are due to failure of convergence out ICs in your TV that will be replaced to get correct converge picture on front screen.

There are 2 big black IC mounted on big aluminum heat sink and number would be written on as STKxxx, these 2 ICs will be replaced.

If you want to repair TV by yourself then confirm model number of TV to provide you more info or call local tech to replace said ICs.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.

my picture is distorted and showing double. The characters are orange and I can't read the menu items because they are also showing double.

OUR TOSHIBA HAS A DOUBLE VISION/BLURRIE PICTURE. THIS PROBLEM IS ALWAYS THERE. SOMETIMES THE PICTURE IS GREAT, BUT MOST OF THE TIME ITS BLURRIE/DOUBLE. LOOKS AS IF IT ALWAYS ON 3D!! ANY SUGGESTIONS? WE WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP WE CAN GET FROM ANYONE. THANK YOU!
