We had a storm one night and apparently messed up our TV. When my daughter turned it on we got a good picture but has no sound. I need a simple solution to this.
I've got a older Orion TV/VCR model # TVCR1300A. The manufacturers date is Sept 1994. The TV has an excellent picture but there is no sound. I took the back off the TV and the speaker was unplugged. I plugged the speaker back up and put the back back on but there was still no sound. I also plugged in a set of earphones in the earphone jack, and again no sound. what do you think the problem is? Check menu to see if audio is on not off and if you can try external speakers this will eliminate the problem. If exter. works and inter. does not then its the sound board.

sounds a lot like you lost the video driver or control board functionality. From the 'decay' of your image, with sound still working, and all else being good, you're primed for a new video controller. Are you inclined to do the repair yourself? The service manuals are hard to get online, but the local service center MIGHT sell you one.
Dude! You fried it! Sound board can be replaced, but what else was stressed? Replace it, use a good surge protector, and turn the thing off during storms, light a candle and cuddle with your sweetie.
Good evening Since unplugging will not work, take the remote click on SETUP and go through general as well as picture. See if you cannot make it better. Good luck kolbrun

how old is your tv?? ours was 2 1/2 yrs old it was a 40in lg hd ready lcd tv it just crackled and turned off one night same as yours it would turn on but with no picture or sound....we took it for repair and they said it was something inside that is basically impossible to fix...it would have cost more that the tv itself. BUT trading standards say a brand new tv should last upto 3yrs...you need to get a free qoute nd if they cant fix it contact trading standards and the tv MANUFACTURER not the shop where you got it....you NEED a reciept to do this for proof of when you purchased it...hope this helps :0)
