SOURCE: Dyson DC07, too much suction...?

have you checked that the roller is turning when the vacum is not in the upright position as ther are 2 belts 1 from the motor to the clutch and 1 from the clutch to the roller if the clutch belt breaks you will find it hard to push because the roller is stopprd.... lie the machine down on its side with the vacume in the open position not upright and check if the roller turns it should only stop when in the upright position. PLEASE MIND YOUR FINGERS.

SOURCE: No suction in upright position

Check the adapters at the bottom. They're supposed to move cleanly when you lower the handle. It's pretty obvious if there's an air gap when you lower the handle, and you should hear the suction in the air gap.

And...call Dyson...their support is great!

SOURCE: Dyson DC07 Original won't pick up at base

Hi,

Lie machine on its side pull back handle as if vacuuming & switch on (KEEP YOUR FINGERS & ANY LOOSE CLOTHING CLEAR OF BRUSH ROLLER)

Brush should spin if it doesnt ensure clutch control knob on side of machine is in drive position if it isnt rotate knob by hand to drive brush should now spin.

If it doesnt & your machine has A clutch either clutch will need replacing or belts will need replacing.

Manuals are available to replace belts & remove the clutch from this site http://dysonmanuals.llc.nu/index.htm

SOURCE: Dyson Dc07

I had the same issue and solved it easily. My experience is the same as the March 6th response/ When you push your foot onto the base and then recline the handle, use your toe to gently push the very front of the base down closer to the carpet. This creates a much stronger seal and suction and picks up every bit of dirt easily. If i do not do this extra step the suction is much much less. I tried an experiment with sand that I poured onto my carpet. Initially, I went over the sand 4 times and the dyson 07 would only pick up 50 percent of the sand. I then poured more sand onto the carpet, and this time pushed the front lip down so it was contacting the carpet. This time only two passes were needed to completely **** up all the sand. Not sure why this is not in the manual but it really works. Good Luck!

SOURCE: beater bar on Dyson upright won't turn when handle is lowered

I have finally fixed my sister's dyson dc 15 beater bar problem. It was just 2 tiny broken wires connect to circuit board lead to the beater bar. The wires broke where they go through the black rubber gommet. You need a torx screwdriver tx 15 to remove 2 plastic covers to access the wires. When looking at the front of the vacuum, the gray covers located on the right side of the vacuum. 1 big cover with a black rubber gasket and other small gray cover is on the rotating ball area.
This my new year resolution is to warn people not to buy Dyson vacuum cleaner ( Junk) design to break down! Shame on you Dyson!!!! Save your money find good old vacuum cleaner with metal parts.

OLD IS IN NEW IS JUNK!

Happy New Year!

I've bought a dyson dc07 upright vacuum and need to know how to get suction through the hose as opposed to the main machine.

Hi there,

When the cleaner is standing in the upright position, it's engineered to divert suction automatically from the cleaner head to the hose. The correct way to use the hose, wand and dusting tools is shown in the user guide:

http://media.dyson.com/downloads/us/floorcare/manuals/dc07_opmanual_usa.pdf

If there doesn't seem to be any suction coming through the hose when the cleaner is standing upright, you may need to check the machine for blockages. The easiest way to do this is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=4&product=DC07-SY-HEPA_US

It's also a good idea to give the filter a wash, as demonstrated in the video below. Under normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months. Use cold water without any detergents, and always make sure the filter is totally dry before replacing it - this may take up to 24 hours.

By clearing any obstructions and washing the filter, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've tried this and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you recommend the best course of action.

Kind regards,

I have a dyson 07. Vacuum works fine, great suction using the hose. How do I switch to using the carpet vacuum. (I lost my instruction book) Thanks

If this unit has a suction hose built in to the handle, the carpet vacuum should start working after you return the handle hose to the proper position.

I paid to have ny DC07 serviced a few months ago and it still takes a few minutes to start picking up dust . Why do you think this is because I have checked it over thoroughly for blockages . This was why...

There is a selecting mechanism that engages when the handle is brought from the upright position .
It's one of the snap in parts on the right hand side which you actually see pivot when the vacuum is engaged, I just found this out with my own DC07 . When it pivots upward it is then locked in place you can also see a square black button just above the pivot nozzle,it is engaged when the handle is returned to the upright position. This directs suction to either the handle or the brush head. In my case, the pivoting nozzle was not completely engaged in an upward position. Some cleaning and adjusting solved the problem. as you said after a minute or two that the suction commences and there's the reason why, a sticking selector. Take a closer look at that section of the machine.
Happy Dysoning!

Handle vacuum no suction

Hi there,
I have made a video of the two most likely causes for lack of suction in the handle of your dyson DC07. Watch the video and see if it helps. The other thing to check is your washable filter, this can cause a big resuction in suction if dirty. If this is helpful take a moment to leave a testimonial or a thumbs up please.
Hope your back to full suction soon. :)

The wandcap for my dyson vacuum doesn't stop the air from flowing though the wand. If your first responce is what model dyson ---then don't bother responding.

The cap on the DC07 should allow air to flow through when the handle is in the upright position. When you pull the handle back, there shouldn't be suction in the handle.

Cyclone will not spin

Even thought the belt may look fine the belt still can be worn and therefore no turn the brush or the clutch. The belts you need are these here:

Dyson Brush Bar Always Spins

Take off the brush cover and check that the suction orifice is clear. Also check the rubber flaps at the bottom of the hose/handle holder is correctly positioned.
