We have just bought an Akai 32 inch full hd tv (ak32fled) and are trying to hook it up to our surround sound system. We have hooked it up so that we can watch dvds through the tv, but there doesn't seem to be any "output" ports so we can watch tv through the system/speakers. Are we missing something?!?

There should be audio out sockets at its rear side. Refer user manual for details about how to connect it with external audio output devices. If you feel any difficulty, contact the authorized dealer.

SOURCE: akai 32"

Well, sportbiff was on the right track, BUT there is a problem on taking the black mount off. it's really annoying and no one in my household can solve it. The mount just doesn't want to move further than a centimeter. I too would like to know the solution to this.

Most TV's now connect via HDMI leads. If your surround system doesn't have these then you will not be able to pass the signals. Some HDMI cables don't always pass the signals so make certain you have a good one that can.
However if the TV has a optical lead you can still pass the sound from the TV to your system. Assuming the system has an optical connection.

Trying to hook surround sound up to W/Westinghouse tv VR-3215

It depends on the connections you have on your TV and what other components you want to connect. So, they could both be right. You would probably get better results in the audio or TV sections. This one is for computer graphic cards.

I had my system hooked up to my old tv to use the surround sound. I bought a new HD TV and can not figure out how to hook it up.

Look on the back of your tv for the same kind of jacks that are on your old one. Make sure you know what input you will be using for your reciever.

Hook up sony blu ray

You should be able to hook it up with a component video cable. A component video cable is a cable that has 5 color coded RCA style ends that are Green/Blue/Red/White/Red. The Green, Blue and one of the Reds is for the video and delivers the signals needed to produce the HD picture and the White and the other Red is for the audio to provide you with stereo sound.

The Video cords will plug into the section labeled component video facing up and down and the audio will plug into the side by side section. So if you plug into Component input 2 then you would plug in the audio into the audio section of input 2.

If you have a separate surround sound system you can connect one of two ways.
1. Plug a separate Audio (red/white) cable from the Blu Ray to an available input on the surround sound.

or

2. Plug all inputs into the TV (as noted above) and then plug a separate Audio (red/white) cable from the tv labeled "Audio Out" to an available input on the surround sound system.

Surround sound for ps3 with a hdmi cable..

you need a HDMI connection for your stereo. HDMI is an all in one cable so if you don't get your sound in/out you need to hook up to just the RCA's, if you get a reciver that has an HDMI input you will solve this. then you go HDMI to Reciver then HDMI to TV

I've seen the same problem, went thought a couple of cable boxes. Turned out to be an AC line problem. Try plugging the TV into a different out, maybe in another part of the house.

Need hook up diagram for Samsung HDTV using HDMI with Cable box and Samsung 5.1 Surround Theater System

you can run a fiber optic cable out of the tv into the surround system if the sytem has a fiber optic input, or your tv should at least have red and white rca cables for audio out, then you just pick any input on the surround sound and any audio from dvd players ect thats hooked up to the tv will be sent through that one input on the surround sound. The only thing you'll have to do is turn the volume up or down on your sound system.

Sony surround sound hookup

In short, the answer is: Hook up all three to each other. I have a Samsung DLP HDTV, and I was trying to hook up a Sony DAV-HDX500 home-theater system and a Comcast HD set-top box, but I found that the Sony user guide is helpful only for setting up the speakers. Most of what it had to say about HDMI and getting the TV sound or cable sound to go through the speaker system was wrong (or, at least, it didn't work for me). So, here's what I did. I connected Component video cables (Y/Pb/Pr out) from the Cable box to the TV (Y/Pb/Pr in), audio cables from the Cable box (audio out) to the Sony system ("SAT/Cable" audio in), and an HDMI cable from the Sony system (HDMI out) to the TV (HDMI in). This allows me to 1) watch DVDs with surround sound through the TV's HDMI source (when the "DVD" format is selected on the Sony system), 2) watch cable with surround sound through the TV's Component source (when the "SAT/Cable" format is selected on the Sony system), and 3) watch cable WITHOUT the surround sound, as I did before I ever had the Sony system. One item of note: When watching a non-HD channel with the surrond sound on, the audio is slightly out of synch with the video; thankfully, there's no such problem on HD channels. Anyway, I hope this helps. It drove me crazy for two days straight!
