No Picture or Sound on Vizio 52" Plasma TV

I have a Vizio 52" Plasma TV, and it was working up until this afternoon, when my daughter turned it on, there was no picture or sound, just a blank screen, she also checked all the wriing and nothing had been unplugged or disconnected. She reset our Direct TV box and still no picture or sound. What do you suggest the problem might be? This TV is only 3 yrs old, should it be going out this quickly? What is the estimate life span on these televisions?

Try to use the reset factory reset feature. Unplug the set. After unplugging press the power button for 30 seconds. Plug the set back in and turn it on.

Plasma has no picture but sound works???
If the set was struck even a moderate blow anywhere near the screen you may have a bad plasma display panel---the diffused picture sounds like that.

The problem listed above is similar as when the TV is turned on in the morning you'll get a picture but no sound, it sometimes helps if I unplug the set & wait a few minutes to plug it back in then...
I would look in book for Hard Reset and it this doesn't help then there are bad filters in the audio section.
