I have had the navigator for 2 years. It had fallen off the windfield many times in this duration. After the last fall, it keeps freezing. I can power it on, and it will work until it locates the satellite and starts to show directions. Once it is in that mode, within 1 minute, it will freeze, and I have to reboot it. I powered it through the USB with my laptop, and it did not freeze for more than an hour, but it wasn't connected to the satellite during this. It seems like once it connects to the satellite, it freezes within a minute. I would be greatly appreciative of any help I can get to fix this problem.
Thanks.
I am happy to say my problem seems to have been solved. I found 3 possible solutions during my search - may need to try all of them to see if it works. 1) Reset by pressing the button under the faceplate. (Did not work for me). 2) Master reset - switch off the unit and press on the right bottom corner of the LCD and switch it on. Release the power button when it powers on, while pressing on the R lower corner. This is supposed to erase all prior data. I could not master reset my unit, for whatever reason. 3) Software update:http://www8.garmin.com/support/collectio... If you are a windows user you will want software version 2.4.1 as of April 3 2007. This worked for me.

2 years is generally about it for the battery on the C330. You most likely need a new battery. Charging it on or off does not matter. Run it with the back light on a dimmer mode to increase battery life for now.
If you left your Garmin c330 on running
the battery will have 1% life left. If you turn c330 back on again, it
will flash screen for 3 seconds then die, even charging it at this
point will not wake it back up. TO BRING IT BACK TO LIFE... plug in the
power home or car into Garmin c330. There is a tab in the front Garmin
gray frame of your screen. You must take like your fingernails and
under the logo "GARMIN" pull the whole gray plastic frame off.
Underneath the plastic frame to the right hand side. There is a "RESET"
button. Make sure power is plugged in while hitting reset. Your battery
should come back to life. Cheers

"My
Garmin nuvi 650 stopped keeping a charge for more than 60 seconds. It
is still connected to the car charger. Will a battery replacement fix
this problem? I have had this unit for 2 years."
<<<<<REPLY: In your case, the battery seems to be getting weak. You must change it.
ONE, RESET IT !!! (See resetting instructions below)
TWO, let the battery die out!
Waking up your c330...

Hello,
I have had 7 Garmin units and 4 of them where streetpilots like yours.
You can try a reset of the unit. This will restore the unit and you might loose any favorites etc that you have stored. Here's how you do a reset.
"With the unit off, place your thumbnail in the groove located under the Garmin logo on the face plate, gently pull off the face place. Press the reset button and turn the unit back on." Try this and see how the unit works. If it still gives you the same problem then your unit needs repair. I have sent in at least 2 units to Garmin for repair in the last 2 years. Thanks
Given the cost of buying a new LCD with touchscreen is about $130 USD + shipping. Your best solution is to sell the existing unit and buy a new Nuvi or recondition C330.
Garmin will repair the unit for $150 and provide the lastest update and map.
