Try looking out doors, the picture will look that awsome remember that the differance between 480i and 1080i horizotal resolution is 600i lines. more lines better picture. the differance between interlacing and progressive scaning is also a factor. dvd players now have progresive (480p) output but you must set the player to output this to your tv and can only be YPbPr or RGB or HDMI to produce this type picture. S vid or composite vid can never produce this type picture. 480p equates to 960i so it is line doubled. just as 720p equates to 1440i even better than 1080i.

Have a Westinghouse HDTV ...using it for a computer monitor only...pc comes in great...but no sound...connected them with a 15 pin analog VGA cable and a stereo mini cable for sound

Have you installed the driver for the monitor? Look for the cd that came with it and install it to your computer. If the driver is already installed, then update it. You can use RadarSync to update all.

No signal analog

Can you still see the boot up screen when you start your machine up?
If you do, then restart the system.
As it's booting up, you tap F8 until you get a menu. Select "Last Known Good Configuration". That will help if you installed a bad driver for your graphics.
If that doesn't help, or if you don't get a picture at all, plug the monitor into another computer and see if it works.
If the monitor works and you still can't get a picture after following the aforementioned steps on your computer, you may need to replace the video card on your system.

No analog signal

Sounds like the graphics card is gone belly up. Try the monitor with another pc or just replace the graphics card.
Hope this helps

HDTV as pc monitor-no digital signal

Try different Resolutions/DPI and Refressh rates the other possibility is settings on the monitor check the manual of the monitor for use with the pc as in resolution etc.
Newer monitors oftem change there own settings to best suit themselves or act differently if forced to use different settings.
The returning to 16bit seems odd though only other suggestion is trying updated video card drivers from the vendors site.

Ilo DVD player/recorder

> jfthr - Tv convertor boxes transfer digital signals into ANALOG. So when it goes to the dvd recorder it IS ANALOG. I have my antenna hooked to my convertor box, the converter hooked up to the ILO (A/V connections) then, the output on the ILO to the input of my analog tv. (Video selection on my tv). It works great to watch tv and/or record. I switch to the "DVD SOURCE" to watch dvds. Maybe you have the conv box hooked to the tv then the outs on the tv to the dvd. That would explain why you can get a picture but not watch dvd? The ILO has to go between the box and the tv in order to watch dvd.

No analog stations on my hdtv 37 inch, have no digal box just regular cable, regular cable works on normal tv

Try an antenna if you want to get analog over the air. I have a feeling that with the way the standards are changing, you will only be able to get digital channels. After February, the analog channels won't be around.

If you are using cable tv you need an HDTV box to get high def.

Flashing green power light - Black screen

I had the same problem with an AOPEN 17' lcd that was left behind at a rental property... I plugged it into my dell dimmension 4400 in place of my old analog. It worked fine the fist night, and got up and when turned it on again it had the famed green blinking power light. I switched back to the analog, and just disappointed I plugged in the AOPEN to another power source, and power came on a steady red light. I plugged it back into the puta and it came on again. I have not turned the monitor off again for fear of the blinks, and has been working great for close to a week now. Hope it helps someone else out there. Richard
