I am having an issue with my Mirage IIse with transperancy adapter.
My ready light will not stay on steady so the computer does not recognize the scanner.
I have had it hooked up to a Blue and white G3 with a third party SCSI card.
It is the only device on the SCSI chain. I am running MAC OS 10.4.10.
I am using SilverFast Ai and it has been working great for several years.
I did take the glass off to get to my power button that gets stuck sometimes to release it.
But the power light remains lit while the UTA and READY lights blink on and off in a revolving pattern.
Do you have any thoughts on what my issue might be?
Thanks in advance,

You need a Firewire/ SCSI adapter. Mine is a Belkin F5U541. Then simply connect a SCSI cable from the scanner to the adapter & a Firewire cable from the adapter to your Mac. I'm using my old Umax Astra 2400S w/ a G5 iMac running OSX 10.6.7. I had to upgrade my old copy of VueScan, however, to run on Snow Leopard
sounds like the scanner is dead. only way to be sure that its not a software issue is to try that scanner on another machine. if you get the same issue on seperate machines, its a good bet that scanner is toast. Fortunately, you can usually go to the Salvation Army or Good will, and get a used scanner for 15 bucks, all you need is downloaded drivers and appropriate cables.
Could be a SCSI termination issue. Try changing the SCSI address number on the scanner to a different one and make sure the chain is terminated properly. If there are multiple SCSI devices in the chain, disconnect all the others until you are sure the scanner is working then slowly add the other devices to the chain making sure everything works as each device is added. SCSI voodoo!
I just told someone else this solution...KILL the SCSI junk...I had nothing but trouble with it with my Mac....I got a Ratoc Firewire to UltraSCSI Converter...to solve the regular SCSI to ultra SCSI problem...I also bought an adapter....It works great...no need for a SCSI card...or a driver...you just plug directly into your firewire port!
If anyone can help me with my TA adapter startup problem...I'll be thrilled!
After visiting their officail website and calling the customer support it was made clear that UMAX 3450 is not compatible to MAC OSX. Therefore I would suggest not to try third party drivers as the company says its not compatible.
I have this scanner.... I had to take the scanner apart(take the cover off) very simple to do. This is a very simple fix. Obvious fix. You will see when you open it where the switch is. Mine was not making contact. You might be stuck with it in the on position once you fix it.
