SOURCE: how do change the battery in a BSA HD42SB

It should be seated inside the windage knob, if not look for a slotted type indentation in one of the knobs, and turn that cap counter clockwise with a coin that fits snugly in the slot while holding the sides of the knob.

It will be a pancake style battery.

SOURCE: 3-9x40 bushnell scope red dot wont come on???

I believe your model takes an 3V lithium battery type 2032. Grasp the battery cover and turn it counter clockwise until battery is exposed small screw driver, gently pry the battery free, replace it and, tighten the battery cover.

here is a manual

http://www.bushnell.com/manuals/riflescopes/Banner_Riflescope.pdf

download it an keep it for your records

should it still not function To make contact on your scope

What size is the battery for the red dot target scope please?

Every red dot finder uses a different size battery. If you do not have the old one call Optics Planet, they sell these scopes. Usually they take a small watch style battery.
