SOURCE: truck won't start
this sounds like crankshaft position sensor, my Cherokee was ding same thing it ended up being crank shaft position sensor. this part costs about $50 and is easy to install.
SOURCE: new battery and it still won't crank at times.
you would need an ohm meter or a test light to figure out what is drawing voltage. you probably have short some where or, just perhaps the ignition switch is bad.
SOURCE: headlights come on when ign key turned on without
that model of mercedes did come out with daylight running lights meaning that when the key is on the headlights come on at a lower wattage. and if your bulbs keep blowing i would have the wiring checked out.
SOURCE: Battery being drained and low beam light not working
check your alternator to make sure it is putting sufficient charge to charge the battery. he proper thest would be to take it to a parts store and have them tell you the voltage. a get by test would be to start the carnd disconnect the battery and see how long the car runs. IF it dies then your alternator is bad.
SOURCE: won't start, battery good
I understand how you feel about underhood tasks. The termnial connections were the easiest for me to start with. I suggest you have a tech check thie wiring on this vehicle. You obviously have a bad ground wire that will need to be traced to find a solution.
