Question about HP DeskJet 3940 InkJet Photo Printer

Printer won't print

I'm trying to print a word document and there is a strange job in the printer que that I can't get rid of. It says "SerialJobNumber". When I try and cancel the job, it says it is deleting, but never does. When I reboot the computer, the job is still there, but it's status is "printing". There is no file size associated with the job.

    Product: HP Deskjet D2360.

I have the same problem but the printer cannot be deleted and hence the driver cannot be removed.

If I delete the SerialNumberJob, it stays in queue saying deleting and nothing happens. If I stop the print spooler the job is deleted, but instantly another SerialNumberJob appears.

Won't print it always says document in queue

This sometimes happens if a print job freezes before, or during the print. I would suggest two things. Open up your print que, which you should be able to access from the bottom right hand side of your screen in your task bar. Right click, and open print que. If there is a print job in the que that says printing, try to right click on the job and cancel it. If this does not work and you have not done so already, restart your computer and your printer! Go back into the que if you have to and if the job is still there, right click and cancel job again. Then, retry printing a something different from your printer. This should solve your problem.

I have an HP printer. There is a full page photo that will not print. When I try to cancel the job is states deleting but does not delete. It deletes other added print jobs but not that one which is...

You have to clear out all documents one by one in the print que before you can delete the one causing the trouble. On the bottom right side of your pc screen, find the picture of the printer and right click with your mouse on it. Open your print que and right click on each document and choose "delete" until therer are none left in the print que. If this does not clear that last document, then unplug your usb cord that connects the printer to your pc and wait a few moments, and then plug it back in. This should clear it out.

There has been a pending document in the que. I tried to delete the document but now it states deleting next to the document in the que. Can not print anything.

Open the Print Que and see if it will let you pause the print job. Then close the que and turn the printer off. Open the print que again and see if it will let you delete it. For some reason every now and again a que will hang. This process should reset the que. It will dump everything in printer memory and should release the document to delete the job. In any event pausing the job should release the printer to print other jobs.

THEN TRY REMOVING THE JOB QUEUES FROM THE PRINT QUE.
IF THAT DONT WORK START PRINTING THE EACH DOCUMENT AND THAN CANCEL EACH JOB.

I was in the process of printing some pictures when it stopped and only printed half of a picture. I checked the stauess of the printer and it said there was an error. I tried to cancel/delete the printing...

If the job is hung in the print que, and it will not delete, turn the printer off, then shut down the system. Turn the printer back on, and re-start the computer. This should clear the data spool that you were not able to delete.

Document locked in que

Solution #1 Have you tried to power off the computer itself? The document is most likely locked in the PC not the printer. Unplug the printer's power, power down the computer, wait a minute or so then restart the computer. Once the machine has loaded check the print queue to verify the document is no longer there, if so you can plug the printer back in and the issue should be resolved.

Solution #2
From the Start menu, select Control Panel. Then follow this path:
Administrative Tools > Services > Print Spooler
Once at the Print Spooler, right click on it. Select Stop. Leave this window open. Turn off your printer.
At the open Print Spooler window, right click on the Print Spooler, and select Start.
Go to the Start menu, and select Printers & Faxes. Find the printer you are having problems with and double click on it. From the menu, select Printer, then select Cancel All Documents. The documents should clear.
Turn on your printer. You sould now be able to print.

Printing status frozen and won't delete or print

Have you tried unpluging your printer from the computer as well as unpluging the printer from the electrical? If that doesn't work you should start from scratch... that is remove the printer from the computer memory, delete it, turn off the computer, turn on the computer and go through the installation process as if you just purchased the printer. Barring any mechanical problems as in jams or the such, the printer should return to operational status.

Can not clear the print que

Follow these steps to resolve the issue. Step one: Delete the print queue Open Print Setup Utility located in the Application/Utilities folder. Double-click your printer in the printer list to open the print queue. Click the Stop Jobs icon. Click to select the document, and then click the Delete icon. Repeat the steps for all the jobs in the print queue. When the print queue is empty, click the Start Jobs icon. A message appears: No Jobs Printing . This indicates that the queue is clear. When you have cleared the queue, retry your print job. If the procedure has not resolved the issue, repeat steps 3 and 4. If the issue still persists, continue to the next step. Step two: Remove the printer from the list Open Print Setup Utility , located in the Application/Utilities folder. Click to select the Photosmart icon. Click the red X to delete the printer from your system. Close all open windows, and restart your computer. Step three: Add the printer to the list Open Print Setup Utility located in the Application/Utilities folder. Click Add . Select the printer that you want to add, and click the Add button. After a few seconds, your printer appears in the printer list, and your printer is ready to print.
