I want to download lan driver for my ibm 2684 laptop.

Lenovo (who bought IBM) has drivers for every model. Go here and enter your model #. They have everything you need. Make sure to read the instructions on how to install!

for the second problem you scan your thinkpad for viruses in safe-mode by disabling system restor and update your viruses definition befor scaning.report back your finding
