Screen too dark even with all brightness settings set to max

The picture on my tv is very dark even with all brightness settings set to max. this problem makes playing videogames very hard because in areas where the lights are dim, it is pitch-black, but on other tvs you can see perfectally. why is my JVC doing this?

I have the exact same model with the exact same problem. I've checked every setting, and can't get it to brighten up. My set is about 5 years old. I can't recall when the problem began, but I think it has got worse with time. My dilemma now is whether or not it would be cost effective to pay to have it fixed. Advice?

Try turning up screen voltage with control on transformer....
one is for more brightness and one is for focus.......T.

The picture is very dark it is mostly due to 1 power supply output is low. 2 voltage on crt g2 pin is low. 3 video output supply is low. 4 some components in luminance section might be defective or loose. 5 finally crt getting weak is set is old. good luck

Voire 46" plasma tv- best color settings, to much white

The proper way to set flat screen tv's is opposite of old school CRT tv. First, find a movie with dark scenes and pause on a really dark part. Now set brightness only high enough to see some detail - no more. then go to a really bright scene and set contrast just high enough for good brightness. You may need to go back and forth a few times to get good setting.

Picture is very dim

there is a problem in the flyback section of the tv set. the fly back has two knobs, one for screen and the other for focus. use the screen knob to adjust the brighness. if it did not help, either check the capacitors around the flyback or change the fly back with a new one. good luck

PS2 Picture Problem

Hi MG86,

Most PS2 games are dark and auto brightness controls will casue your LCD tv to brighten up automatically in response the dark video coming from PS2 games. I suggest you get into the menu settings of your TV and find a setting that will shut off the auto picture controls.
