Can't retune sharp aquos lcd tv

BT Vision uses Freeview plus catch up TV. Freeview requires a retune because they are making way for new channels. Retune the DTV part or your BT Vision box.

You are in diagnostic mode. Switch off, then switch on again while holding down the Menu and Volume buttons near the on-off switch.

I had the same issue with my Sharp Aquos 52 inch LCD TV. I called Sharp. The tech had me unplug my TV, take the batteries out of the remote (TV remote not cable) and press all buttons on the remote (including the buttons under the flip top at the bottom of the remote). I did this, put the batteries back in and plugged in the tv and everything worked. I had gone 4 months having to use the surround sound for volume and turning the TV on and off by hand. This took 2 minutes to fix.

This happens when you are connecting with a coaxial cable. If possible you will need to connect your set top box to the television with a composite/RCA cable and watch tv on input 2 instead of on input tv.

i find that my aquos lc37gd8e has no signal between 5pm and 6.30pm but my other tv is fine it also switches itself of somedays at 9.30pm have trided retuning this has not helped can you help?

Start by doing a factory settings/ defaults on the Sharp rather than a normal automatic retune.This should then be ok. You need to empty the existing presets first so it will find the new type of signal BBC is now using.
If still not working for BBC1 +2 then look at whether you have too much aerial signal strength. (ie a booster/splitter that you could bypass)

I'm going to guess your friend's model is LC-37D64U. ( 37" screen; D64 series)
It's sounding like a power supply problem for the LCD screen. It's somewhat common problem for big LCD screens. But, too early for your friend to be having this problem with the TV.

I would have your friend use the warranty at this point. Last thing you want to do is void the warranty by opening up the TV.

I would first try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 mins so it can reset. Then, try turning it ON again.
If that doesn't work, it warranty time.

If your friend just bought it, have them exchange the TV for another one. I wouldn't want a TV that has problems that just came out of the box. The Sharp TV only has a 1 year warranty. Upgrade warranty life if possible. A repair for a problem like this would cost about $100 for someone to look at it; and $200 to $400 for the part at a TV repair shop.

i have had to replace the hdmi input board on these units to fix them.

Sounds like a power supply or button problem.
