SOURCE: vibrating and shaking

the sstepper motor of the focus assembly has slipped out of its track. that motor is a very powerful one which can cause the vibration.  once u change the mode to take the picture the motor should run in both direction to make some calibration. you cannot disable it. in the preview mode the optical assembly returns to it closed position and then the motor is switched off.
since it is a cybershot you need to be very careful in handling the camera if you have any plan to open it. it is recommended to be taken to the nearest service centre. any way the wheels might need replacement

SOURCE: vibration problem

Sony has recently discovered that with certain units of its "Cyber-shot" DSC-T20 digital still camera, a symptom may arise in which the camera body may vibrate when it is powered on, due to a mechanical failure affecting the lens, and it prevents the camera user from being able to shoot.
To ensure customer satisfaction, Sony will provide a free repair service when this symptom occurs within certain units covered by the serial numbers indicated in the serial number validation box below.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Your understanding and cooperation would be much appreciated.

SOURCE: camera vibrates when on unless viewing pictures.

On Sony T100 and similar,
its the vibration canceling unit, i had the same problem.
if you have good hads you can fix it.( on your oun risk)
1) disasamble the camera, you will see black plastic box inside, this is he lens unit.
2) on the botom you see 2 scrwes, they are holding the CCD remove them and the ccd unit will come from the lens assembly
3) the next is the stabilizer unit it is the problematic one. it is located on the left side of the lens asebly and is held by 2 screws.
you can test it by puling out the cable connected to it (the conector is just under the lens) and verifign that the problem is solved. ( you can leave it this way it will shoot fine just without the anti shake)
4) to fix it take it out ,remove the plastic cover, you see the lens on a plastic mount it should be glued to the magnet under it. the problem is that the glue fals apart.
remove one of the pins on wich it slides, and take the lens and the magnet out.
5) reglue the magnet and reasemble the camera.
6) power up and test, for me that solved the problem

if you need more help you can mail me at adisarit(et)yahoo(dot)com
this is spam mail so be prepared to wait a few days for reply.
this was tested and worked on 2 additional cammeras

DSC-T20 Sony Cyber Shot Camera that vibrates like a cell pohne. The vibration does not allow for a good picture it all. Could it that the anti vibration system of the camera goes into a full mode trying to...

Hi!
The problem you have is a faulty image stabilizer. It's a well known problem in these cameras. It's a hardware fault and I'm afraid you won't be able to fix it yourself. Usualy it requires the lens unit to be replaced. You should contact your local Sony service center or me at [email protected] - I give the best prices. ;)
I work in a Sony service center.

Hope this helps!

Cybershot H7 focus problem

Things to check before you assume it is a mechanical issue-you can get vibration message if flash is disabled, be sure also that the macro mode is not enabled-this is very common on sony cameras to turn on by accident-flower button on camera will put in close up mode and you will get blur make sure no flower is present on lcd screen-if in macro press button on camera w/flower to turn off-also in menu you have continuous and monitor auto focus settings try changing one or the other and see what happens

The camera keeps vibrating by itself

if its vibrating i would think its something mechanical. this isnt my forte but it sounds like when you turn your camera on the lens covering opens up and for some reason the gears that open it continues to rotate. if your comfortable about tearing things apart look in that area. better yet since its new let the warranty take care of it. this is not a solution just a hunch. let me know how it works out im curious.
