Nothing? No lights, no sounds? Check the power supply and battery. Otherwise try to re-install windows over the top of your existing installation.

My laptop runs really slow & windows media player doesn't work properly

Hello.

We need more info before we can properly diagnose your Media Player issue. Is the content you are playing from the Internet or is it saved to the hard drive?

Please test Media Player by doing the following:
- Reboot the laptop
- find a local video file that is saved to your hard drive
- double click it and see if it plays correctly

If the file plays correctly then the issue was either the laptop needed to be rebooted OR the content that plays slowly is from the Internet and your Internet connection is not fast enough to play the video smoothly.

Why does it take a very long time to open a laptop or file?

If you posted the Acer Model and the OS you are using it would be helpful. If you are referring to a slow Boot and slow running I would start by Cleaning the junk from your machine and disabling startup and running processes. Run a Full scan with your up-to-date Anti Virus. Run a Full Scan with Freeware MALWAREBYTES: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ Uncheck the Trial Pro version, you want the freeware version. Run a FULL Scan, delete ALL results, reboot. Download freeware CCLEANER to clean the junk from your machine, in the TOOLS section, STARTUP section, Disable ALL unnecessary startup programs, reboot. With out knowing your OS I'll give you a Windows 7 procedure to increase speed: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2364937,00.asp This is a start, you can also add more memory, faster HDD, etc. As the computer gets used more and more software and junk is added slowing it down, get rid of the junk and unnecessary startup programs.
