Tries tv unplug, replug it back like about an hour later, for the tv to a resetting itself back to the factory setting. The tv might work again,if not the tv power supply board is the problems and the causes. The tv power supply board it is shorted and dead some how. That the board where the tv power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole new refurbish tv power supply board for the replacement.
Your TV is in Protection Mode right now. A part inside the TV has failed and the TV will not turn ON to prevent other parts from being damaged. The red light blinking is an error code for diagnosing the problem part on the one of the power supply boards. The problem boards that need to be looked at is the Backlight Inverter Board or the Main Power Supply Board. There is a slim chance you can leave the TV unplugged for an hour so the TV can discharge and reset itself. But other than that, I would use the warranty if possible. The TV repair shop maybe expensive, so get some price quotes to see if it worth the trouble.
HI, the fly back transformer has failed in your unit. this will occur if the dust level is high inside the set. the dust will settle on the cooper windings and, create an arch that will short out the entire power sector of this unit.
The fly back is usually the first to take the hit. replacing this will fix this issue.
Try leaving it unplugged for an hour so it can reset itself.
If it still has the problem, it may need a new power supply inverter board. That's what happen to mine.
I have two RCA HD52W59 TV's. I have had one for 3 years and one 4 years. The one I have had for 4 years is giving me the problem. Last week the tv turned off while watching it. It wouldnt come right back on. 10 minutes later we tried and it worked fine. the other night the kids were watching and it turned off and smelled like something burning. I tried turning it right back on and got no power at all. I tried to turn it on two days later and it made a buzzing noise and the green light went out. Never did get a picture, no powering up on the screen. Any ideas? Don't want to spend alot of money. Really loved the TV hope it isnt junk now. Better yet I hope the same thing doesnt happen to the other one I have.
For the first one, please list the model number and count the blinks. Also, can you please post each problem separately. It will get too confusing trying to address 3 sets with different but similar problems.
Thanks,
Dan
The first thing to try is to unplug the unit from the wall for about 15 minutes,if this does not work you will need the assistance of a servicer to diagnose the problem,if you are familiar with tv service you can check the horizontal output transistor for a short, sometimes it fails for no reason and other times it goes bad along with the horizontal output transformer also know as flyback.Be careful if you decide to check this yourself.
