SOURCE: Dell P780 17" CRT Monitor(3 yrs old) issue
That sounds like a monitor issue, not a video card. Gradual fading means components within the monitor are wearing out. However, I strongly advice against attempting repairs. CRT monitors hold a strong electrical charge. People have been injured and even killed by attempting to work on them without proper tools and training. A 17" CRT monitor is too cheap to be worth the risk (you can often get them used... I got mine for $20 at Goodwill).

Your monitor is malfunctioning and requires servicing. Unfortunately there is no software solution, and no monitor adjustment buttons will control this problem. Due to the high cost of replacement parts and service technicians, it may be more cost effective to buy a new LCD monitor. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(
SOURCE: SCREEN GOES BLACK OFF AND ON .....
It's a common problem with sony hs75p
the problem is with the power board's transistor in the monitor
people might try some stuff and may get some results, but trust me it's all luck...
i had the same problem, so i gave my monitor for repairs as it was under warranty and the culprit was the power board (sony calls it the 'A' board). The only problem is u need to have patience as u are dealing with sony here >_>.... i mean, i got my monitor back, but after 2 tries and with many dead pixels and analog signal being greenish...well atleast the DVI port worked fine >.>, which they said wasn't their fault ( i was like...riiiight, so the dead pixels generated all by themselves, huh?..btw if u are wondering...before giving my monitor...they checked the monitor and it's written in the receipt that the monitor had no dead pixels).... so dont be surprised if ur monitor comes up with another problem, after giving ur monitor for repairs to sony >.>
in any case it's 'A' board problem

there is atleast a 5 year difference between your computers. Technology has made a huge jump from back then, especially in graphics cards!!! that LCD was probably made after your computer, alot after your computer as a matter of fact. So it is your graphics card. get a new computer, its time to update
SOURCE: Monitor turns on during computer start up but right away goes off
reinstall the drivers only after you remove the current ones for the monitor
