Question about KitchenAid Refrigerators

1 Answer

Kssc42qms01 side-by-side. About a month ago refridgerator side was too warm. Removed top grill and cleaned coils. All was fine until today. High temp warning (beep) and both compartments now reading 50-60 degrees. I have searched the net for diagnostics and found instructions that would have me first press the filter reset button and then the Power button holding both for 3 seconds or until a beep sounds. A beep occurs as soon as the Power button is pressed, even while first holding down the filter reset button. The unit just powers down. Can someone please help with the diagnostics mode specific to the Kitchenaid KSSC42QMS01 model? Any help deeply appreciated!

Hi,

I just checked my sheets on this unit, this unit has to be turn off first, turn it back on and can only enter the service mode within 13 second after power up. Hold the filter rest then power button for three second. I hope this helps. Good Luck

three things to check out.
1)the fan wiring's are they getting cut in between or burnt or short.
2)if the wires are proper ,then its faulty fan motor the Fan needs replacement.
3) if the compressor relay is faulty then also fan will not work.the relay is located beside the fan and compressor.

if not familiar with checking a local repair technician familiar with your brand /model is advisable.

SOURCE: I have a Kitchenaid built

Weak compressor is other possibility.Because when compressor starts it takes more load and if its weak then it will trip the circuit breaker. But as mentioned that control board is replaced. Then i suggest recheck the control board connections. If the control board connection is not connected properly then it will trip.I agree the control board is new and its working, but in some rare cases the new board itself comes faulty.Get the power to board checked and power to the compressor checked. If main board is replaced perfectly then it indicates towards compressor shorting.Remove and reconnect the compressor connection to the relay and connect relay connections back to the power cord.------
------------ A bad breaker often will be warm to the touch. Sometimes you will hear them arcing a little under load. A little "sizzling" sound. If the breaker is warm to the touch then I suspect the breaker. But if breaker is normal then i suspect problem is compressor getting short and tripping the breaker.Re check main board and compressor connections.------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Airflow around the condenser grill is very important. So you should take off the front grill and vacuum out that area the best you can.

Since this is a gradual warming trend you might have ice build up on your evaporator coils (usually means that defrost circuit malfuntioning). If you remove the food, shelves and back panel of your freezer section, you will be able to see if there is ice build up. If there is, unplug the unit and then use a hair dryer to melt the ice. Make sure you are ready to deal with the ice melt with either spongs and bucket or a wet/dry vac.

Hi,

The coils you see on the back of your dehumidifier are the evaporator. When the unit runs, the coils get very cold. As the fan draws the room air over the coils, the humidity in the air condenses out of the air onto the cold coils. But, if the temperature of the air the fan draws over the coils is too cool, the humidity that condenses out of the air freezes on the coils.

To remedy this problem, you can try any of these:
Warm up the room the dehumidifier is in.

Put the dehumidifier on a sturdy table (the room air is coolest near the ground).

Turn the unit off until the room warms up.

Take care.

If you purchased this machine NEW 6 months ago, everything on it is under warranty. You should contact the selling dealer to verify you are entitled to a free service call. Changing the filter is routine maintenance and in no way should affect the warranty.

REFRIDGERATOR LEAKING WATER ON THE FLOOR

HI. This may be a drain pan issue.

The drain pan should be removed and cleaned at least once a year. The drain pan is located at the bottom of the refrigerator behind the front grill. Remove the grill, which snaps into place. Grasp the drain pan while pulling slightly upward and forward.

Clean the pan with warm soapy water or warm water and baking soda.

If the pan rattles when it is replaced, it is too close to the compressor. Simply reposition the tray.

If you have an ice-maker, check the water supply hose going into and coming out of the water inlet valve. The hoses may be loose here.

Removing refridgerator grill

Look at the top slots in the grille. If there is a slight cutaway near the ends that is where the release tabs should be. If no release tabs, try a gentle lifting pressure in the grille as you try to pull away. They are made to be removed by the user. Check the manual if you can find it. If no luck, reply, I'll see if I can find one.
