Epson RX500 poor test page

I did a move over the summer and when I went to set up my printer I could not get a clean test page to print. After going through all the head cleaning and stuff, I still wasn't successful. All of my inks were at least half full. Of course the website said I should replace all of the printer cartridges (yeah, right). Instead I took each cartridge out separately and shook it gently. Ran the test page again and perfect! I'm glad I didn't take their recommendation and go out an just buy a whole set of new ink cartridges.

Well done. Typically, I advise only ever replacing one cartridge - replacing all is expensive and wasteful

Epson Stylus RX500 problem: black no longer printing - have installed new cartridge, several nozzle checks, head cleaning, still no black. Any ideas?

This is the only advice I can give you.

The next step would be to disassemble the Epson, and clean the Pads/Heads. Click on link below.:

I located a page on http://www.fixyourownprinter.com forum, which had plenty of details about similar issues.

When the printer prints the colours come out all wrong

If the cyan, magenta and yellow blocks print correctly on the self test page but on pages from the computer then I woukld suspect a driver issue.
else
I would suspect the cartridge has run out of magenta ink. Try printing a diagnostic page.If the colors are "wrong" on this test then your cartridge is most likely the issue.

Trying to change ink cartiridge.

Sounds like the printer still has some ink in it, it'll stop printing when the ink is empty. If it's still printing but in poor wuality, give it a head clean

Goes though the motions but does not put ink on page

The problem might be a faulty print head. Try to print out a nozzle check and do a couple of head cleanings. I would like to know more info about it. Does it happen when you print from you computer? How about when standalone copying?

Turn the printer off overnight and try the head cleaning process again. Leaving it unpowered for an extended period softens the ink and makes the cleaning more effective. It may require several cleaning cycles.

Epson RX500

Are the lines ink? Either you have to keep cleanng the heads until they work correctly or find out where the ink is coming from, if not from dirty heads.(dirty heads means that the ink had drived and you may have to remove them and clean them with rubbing alcohol . What color are they? Replaced any of the ink  cartridge yet?

Epson RX500 printing problems

Please go to my website http://www.the-inkstore.co.uk . I have the latest version of SSC Service Utility to download directly onto your computer and instructions on how to use it, what to click on etc etc. Click any of the Epson links if you can't find it, everything you need to know will be there, including printer Firmware resetting which sorts out a multitude of problems.

The 'maintenance required' problem with Epson printers has absolutely nothing to do with which cartridges you are using, it is a built in page counter in your printer firmware, which has a different maximum amount for each Epson model. Don't listen to old wives tales and heresay, we are the experts and it's an Epson scam to cause a lot of people to pay for maintenance or throw their printers away.
I haven't found a model that can't be reset with the latest version of SSC Serve or the manual reset on my site.

For Epson RX500 users there is also a manual reset on my site, as the SSC Serve software won't do it for you.
When using the program & choosing your printer from the list, it may have a weird name with 'x' in the model number, this is because some configurations are for many models in a series. For example, the C46 will be listed as C4x as it is for the C42, C44 & C46 models.

I hope this helps all Epson users to overcome the Epson scam of page counting and locking out until you pay their dealers money for maintenance.

If you like what I've done for Epson users, please show your appreciation by spreading the word and perhaps buying your ink from my site.

Happy trouble free printing

Epson RX500 won't turn on

Sorry to say, if there is no power - then that's it! Nothing else you can do other than replacing the unit. To be honest, a 3-year lifespan out of any inkjet printer is typical.

RX500 EPSOM STYLUS PHOTO PRINTER Won't Print

I used some less expensive generic ink cartridges on my RX500 and had a similar experience with the black. If you're already using the Epson brand, done the head cleaning, realignment and nozzel checks, I'm not much help. Try Epson's support at their web site.
