After much frustration, I've figured it out something that works.
Turn the mp3 player off, remove the battery cover, take out the batteries, put them back in, screw the battery cover back on, turn the mp3 player on, press the green play button. You should then see the "welcome" screen.
The boombox has continued to lock up frequently - almost everytime my son plays with the stinkin' thing - but at least I know how to unlock it now.
Good luck :)
i have a jensen model# smp 2 GBL it wont play it comes on for a second then turns off. I took out the music put in new music then it played for 5 minutes then turned off and does the same thing again. I put in alot of new batteries that dont work either can you help me
WELL I DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM YOUR MP3 JUST WONT TURN ON AS SOON AS I PUT ANOTHER BATTERY IN IT WOULDN'T PLAY I ONLY GOT IT ON CHRISTMAS AND NOW IT WONT TURN ON
I have an identical problem with my mp3 player which looks similar but isn't the same model. There's something up with the play button, some moisture or grit or dust has got underneath the contact for the play button so that the mp3 player thinks you are constantly pressing the on/play button.
Put it in a warm dry place. I have had this problem twice & this has fixed the problem on both occassions. If there's more than moisture trapped inside, that can be harder to shift. But there are no moving parts in this player so don't be afraid to give it a good shake to try & get things moving.
