You won't physically see damage from heat. It is the CPU and motherboard that gets damaged when it overheats. If they did a recall they might cover replacement even though it is several years old now. You might want to ask them.
Hi there some how your laptop screen pressed & the screen is damaged. Just the option is replacing the screen. Another reason is over heating of screen by manufacturing default. Your laptop still under warranty so i suggest you visit the Acer service center & claim the damaged things if your screen does not have any over pressed symptom then. I hope you understand me. Thanks & waiting for your feedback.
I would start by doing a search on Ebay. Often times you can get parts or a damaged laptop with parts for a very reasonable price. I just did a search for your laptop model and found a damaged Acer Aspire 5315 for $81. As of this posting on 10/31 at 9:10 am CST time, the auction ends in 2 hrs.
After doing a quick internet search, I found a web site called http://www.screencountry.com and I saw a monitor for your model listed at $99.
Yeah, that screen has probably pushed in a little bit too hard, probably damaged. Suggest testing it with another external monitor that you can plug into the side of the laptop. Here is a location you can get a replacement screen really cheap. http://www.blisscomputers.net/acer-aspire-4720-101g2-laptop-lcd-screen-14-1-wxga-glossy.aspx
