sounds like a bad / stuck mix valve --- the mix valve is the plastic part that the hot/cold hoses connect to on the back of the machine,, remove the two hoses..remove the back panel and the valve is held in place by one small screw,, label wires hot/cold and remove the valve. write down the make,model and serial number of th emachine and take the valve down to your local appliance repair shop and buy a new valve and then install into the machine --- hook everything back upp and test the machine,, all should be good -- with full water flow.

Do you have a model and serial number so i can spec components and a diagram?
The reset is a GFCI electrical or a high limit temperature switch?
If its a GFCI you have a leak or a short or the pump is drawing to many amps likely due to something in the impeller or plumbing restricting flow. Potentially its a shaft seal issue.
How hot is the tub when it trips? Try running it cold and see if it trips. If it doesnt and its still cold its the pump. If its hot and you set it to cold its a stuck relay or contactor or triac and therefore tripping a high limit switch.
If this is a hot tub/spa the pressure switch may be an issue. It shuts down the heat typically and keeps the pumps running.
If a reset switch of any type is tripped to many times it will continue to trip at a lower and lower value.

If you found a solution to this problem, can you tell me what it was? I have the same thing. Its a Marquis Spririt and it just doesn't get hot enough. There must be a way to "trick" the thermostat into letting the heater run longer

That serial code is for the controls, not the hot tub.

Usually manufacturers will attach a plaque with the hot tub details on.... this would usually be at the front of the hot tub, either on the inside of a cabinet panel, or on the exterior.

there will be the same amount of basic maintenance on either spa. The difference will be in water chemistry. you definitely want an ozone generator on either spa. Both are awesome Mfg of spas. they both have been around since the 1980's
Ozone will keep the water cleaner, fresher smelling and reduce the total amount of traditional chemicals used in any hot tub.
There are many other solutions for taking care of water chemistry out there without using the traditional types.
some are all natural.
