The plug thread is 14mm, check out E Bay for a 14mm heli coil kit, they come with instructions on how to use, practice on an old cylinder first if you have one.

Hi scooterbu850,
You indicate you replaced the carburetor kit, did you check for dirt and clean the carb and install the kit very carefully, and make sure all the gaskets on the carb and between the intake and carb have no air leaks? The first thing is to try to adjust the low speed screw to give you a faster idle, it is the screw with a spring, on top of the carb where the throttle cable hooks up. Turn it in (clockwise) to give more idle speed. Now locate the mixture screws on the carb, they are on the side of the carb and also have springs on them. They are marked with an L or H on the carb body beside the screws. Turn them both in (clockwise) until lightly seated then turn them out (counterclockwise) 1 turn or if you prefer turn them to the position they were before you took the carb apart. 1 turn out is the recommended position by the manufacturer so the engine starts and runs, sometimes this is the right position. If it does not idle properly, remember this position and turn the idle mixture screw out (counterclockwise) in 1/8 turn increments until it runs properly 5 or 6 times or more if it runs better. (When turned out you are adding more gas to the mixture). You could also try the high speed mixture screw and see if it helps with the idle, but do not turn in (clockwise) to less than 1 turn out from a lightly seated position, to prevent overheating. If this doesn't help, check the air and gas filters, the gas tank and fuel lines for blockages. Check the spark plug to see if it is wet and if it isn't no fuel is getting to the engine. These are a few suggestions for you to try. Hope this helps a bit. All the best and good luck.

SOURCE: Hi I am after sharpening

Hi, there are different angles for different chain types but 30 degrees across and 10 degrees down are good general purpose angles. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

So I've got a stihl ms290 chainsaw that the spark.plug threads are stripped n I saw on this site 2buy a 14mm heli coil kit but there are 3dif types in 14mm size. There's 14mm×2.0, 14mm×1.5, and 14mm ×1.25....

According to Machinery's Handbook (24th ed pg 1650), there are four standard SAE spark plug threads, all metric: M18 x 1.5; M14 x 1.25; M12 x 1.25; and M10 x 1.0

How do I find a parts manual for a Stihl MS290 ?

I really don't want to be "that guy", but people who aren't trained STIHL mechanics or at LEAST mechanically trained, shouldn't work on higher end saws like STIHL, because people with a little bit of experience can mess something up, then blame the machine because they mess something up and start trashing the brand when it's their fault for not knowing what they're doing.

I blew a spark plug it stripped out it's a F-250 V-10 1999

Your local part store should carry a thread repair kit as it it quite common. Make sure you protect from getting metal shavings inside of the cylinder.

Sparkplug blew out of my stihl chainsaw and stripped threads. what can I do

Not much, there are repaid kits out there, but I doubt that any of them are the correct size for the plug in your saw and they most likely won't work as a long term solution because the saw runs at a high RPM with high compression which most likely will cause the repair to fail. The correct fix would be to replace the cylinder head whcih may include the cylinder as well depending on your model.

Stihl ms 290 wont start

Try replacing the spark plug and fuel filter to start with. Need to ensure you have fuel and spark. We have a list of things to check as techs but if it has spark fuel and compression it should run albeit poorly. If no spark check the ground circuit and if thats good replace the ignition module. If you have spark check the carburetor. It will most likely require a kit and cleaning

Spark plug tube striped spark plug jumped out of tube

The issue seems to be related to the spark plug threads. The spark plug is either not tightened down or the threads are stripped, and during the compression stroke when pressure is applied inside the combustion chamber, the pressure leaks thru the spark plug threads and blows off the spark plug boot. If the spark plug is not tightened and the threads are ok, then tightening the plug will resolve this issue. If the spark plug threads are damaged, then the threads will need to be repaired, and will require the cylinder head to be removed to repair the stripped threads. Taking the cylinder head off requires the engine's top end to be ripped apart and re-assembled....big job.
