SOURCE: Connecting up Digital TV, DVD recorder and VCR

Hi,

If I may offer an unconventional solution in addition to the initial post...
Connect all TV, VCR and DVD Recorder as to any way you want to connect them or as otacon have posted.

However, from your cable input from your provider, use a 3-way splitter. Connect the 3 outputs to the individual ANT INput of each of the 3 units (assuming all 3 have Cable/ANT INputs).

With this method all 3 can receive TV signals, both the VCR and DVD-R can record (even simultaneously) and you can switch watching one program on the TV, while recording another program in either the VCR or DVD-R or both.

Panasonic DMR-EX768 displays message EXT-L and wont let me access the guide menu or record anything. Can anyone help please.

Hopefully you will have figured this out by now but you have accidentally turned on the external link function (used to automatically record from a sky box or similar) - simply press the ext-l button on the remote (second row from the bottom of the remote, 3rd button from left) to turn it off again and everything will work normally once more.

My panasonic dvd recorder is showing error screen u61, but what ever i do it does not solve the problem, ''self check did not complete''

First is there a disk in the dvd drive? If so it must be removed. have you tried a factory reset? Press and hold the up and down channel buttons on the front of the unit until the unit displays BYE then after it shuts down unplug it from the AC outlet for about 30 seconds then try to turn it back on it should be back in the first time setup.

Panasonic DMR E55 DVD Recorder

Hi James,

When in EXT link mode the recorder is looking for a signal from the TV to start recording off the TV's timers system.

There is a EXT Link button on the remote control and pressing that will take the machine back to normal mode. The button is near the bottom of the remote.

Hope this helps

A PANASONIC DVD RECORDER MODEL DMR ES10EB WILL NOT FORMAT TDK RW DISCS.IT PLAYS DISCS AND RECORDS ON CD R DISCS .

Check the tape transport unit. The transport mechanism may be out of the guides on either side. Once guide pins are put back into guides, unit will operate.

Panasonic dvd recorder model dmr-e55eb/ebl. played dvd,no problem - ejected dvd - green/blue colouring appeared on TV which disappeared when dvd recorder switched off. since then unable to play dvds. ...

This is a problem with either the logic or the power supply. Without seeing the machine and taking measurements inside, I can't state for sure the exact problem. These are decent machines. I would suggest that you bring it to an authorized Panasonic service center for a repair estimate. Post the results here and we'll suggest the next steps.

Panasonic DVD problems

sorry to say but both of these sound like loader problems.ie the optics are faulty, you have to replace the full assy called a loader assy when this happens.Panasonic are the only company who offer part exchange tru authorised dealers.ie send back the faulty one and they will give reduced price on new one,.As to other makes see a lot of sonys with optic problems as well so isint just a panasonic problem. You could also try using ordinary dvdrs instead of ram discs as the optic has to work harder when recording and playing ram disc due to information contained.Hope I helped!
