Channel programming Hi, I need a solution to lock some channels on the TV, operational only upon entering a password. It is kind of parental lock, but not rating based...it should work even without ratig information. Thanks.

Hi,

Usually you need to go to menu option and then then parental control. When display asks for secret number,Press and hold volume up and channel down simultaneously until message is cleared.This turns off parental control and clears the password.

Note - You must press the volume up and channel down buttons on the TV, not on the remote.

If the problem persists, revert and i would be able to search exclusively for this model.

hello Lock/Unlock Parental Controls
Selecting this option lets you lock and unlock parental controls settings
using a password.
If you do not lock parental controls, none of the settings for V-Chip,
Channel Block, or Front Panel Block will take effect.
If you forget your password, press the MENU button, then select Parental
Control (the password entry screen appears). Simultaneously press and
hold CH+ and VOL+ on the front panel for 8 seconds. Parental Controls
unlock and the Parental Control menu appears. You can enter a new
password by locking the Parental Controls again.
Front Panel Block
Selecting this option lets you block (disable) or unblock (enable) the TV’s
front panel. The remote still tunes to any channel. When using this as a
Parental Control method, remove access to any remote that is capable of
operating the television while you have the front panel blocked.
Don’t forget to lock parental controls after you change the status. If you
don’t, the front panel block will not take effect .if this don't work get back to me i've got manual good luck

If you forget your password, simultaneously press VOLUME down on the TV/VCR front panel and the 0 number button on the remote for a few seconds. This resets the password and you can enter a new one.

If you forget your password, press STOP/EJECT on the TV/VCR front panel and MENU on the remote simultaneously. This resets the password, but not the limits you’ve set.

Channels that have been locked can be viewed only when the PARENTAL CTRL function is set to OFF. This can only be done with the remote control-it can not be changed with the buttons on the front of the TV.

Therefore, after you turn on PARENTAL CTRL, you simply hide the remote control so that your children can not watch the locked channels. The locked-out channels will remain unviewable even if the TV is unplugged or the channels are autoprogrammed again. The only way to view locked channels is to use the supplied remote control to set the PARENTAL CTRL function to OFF.

The PARENTAL CTRL and the CHAN CTRL functions work hand-in-hand. The instructions below will first tell you how to turn parental control on or off with the PARENTAL CTRL function and then how to lock desired channels with the CHAN CTRL function.
1. Repeatedly press MENU to select SETUP MENU, and then press + or - to display setup functions. Repeatedly press MENU to select the PARENTAL CTRL function. . 2. To lock channels, press the MENU button to select the CHAN CTRL function. Select a channel you want to lock by pressing CHANNEL up or down. Then press +. The CHAN CTRL setting will change from NORMAL to LOCKED when that channel is locked. To return the channel to NORMAL, press the - button. Repeat step 2 for each channel you want to lock. If the PARENTAL CTRL function is set to ON while you are locking out channels, each channel will go blank as you lock it. When the PARENTAL CTRL function is set to ON and a channel which has been locked out is tuned, the TV will display the words PARENTAL CONTROL to let your kids know you have locked it.

If the front panel function buttons don't work, (menu, ch up/dn etc.) but the functions work normal with the remote, enter the "Channel" menu with the remote and turn "Parental Control" off.

In the event you have forgotten your password, perform the following procedure:
Press and hold for 3 seconds the TV button on the remote while pressing the menu button on the TV.
This procedure will turn off the parental lock and erase the previous password .

Another Possibility To Try For Various Models: If TV's in the Parental mode and askes for a password that's forgotten, Press menu on the TV, select Parental Lock #4 on menu, then with the remote press Mute, Display, Clear, and Reset buttons in sequence.

SETTING V-CHIP
This TV is fitted with a V-CHIP controller which provides you with channel viewing access controls
and restrictions. This function is to prevent your children from watching violence or sexual scenes
that you may choose to exclude.
Press the MENU button and press the SET + or – button to select the V-CHIP SET option,
then press the ENTER button.
Enter your password (4 digits) using the Direct channel selection buttons (0-9).
In the event of entering incorrect password press the RESET button. Then press the
ENTER button.
Enter the same password for confirmation, then press the ENTER button.
Press the SET + or – button to select the V-CHIP option.
Press the ENTER button to select the ON.
Press the SET + or – button to select the TV RATING or MOVIE RATING option. Press
the ENTER button.
Press the SET + or – button to select the desired rating for the applicable video or TV
channel. Press the ENTER button.

And to change or put in a new password:
NOTES:
• If you want to change password, follow steps 1 and 2 and select "CHANGE PASSWORD"
option then enter your new password.
• The V-Chip function is activated only on programs and tapes that have the rating signal.
• Once you block a program using the V-Chip function, the blocked program cannot be watched
based on the content of the show. When the program starts, the "INPUT PASSWORD" will
appear on the screen. When you want to release the V-Chip temporarily, enter the password.
If you change the channel or turn off the TV while the V-Chip function was temporarily released,
the original setting will be resumed. If you return to the channel you were watching you must
re-enter your password to temporarily release your V-Chip function again.
• When you watch the TV from the cable box or the VCR with the RF Modulator, then you release
the V-Chip temporarily, the V-Chip setting will not be resumed until you turn off the TV. The
TV channel is not used in this case.
• When changing the channel with the cable box or the VCR, approximately 10 seconds will
pass until the program appears.

I would call RCA and talk with a tech there might be a generic unlock code like on the old playstations. You may have to prove you are the rightful owner and over the age of 18.
