Question about ASUS LCD Monitor

1 Answer

My LCD monitor has a completely steady white line about 1/8 of an inch thick running right down the center of the screen. This randomly appeared, no dropping, no liquid, no overheating, nothing. Checked the drivers, ran a test for the video card that came up fine so it has to be the screen (or possibly the connection I guess). I have no idea what the issue would be or how to go about fixing it, please help.

Try use another cable. Might be a lose/bad connection on the cable or on the monitor outlet.

How do I Fix LCD White Screen?

If you see "fractured lines" across the screen, it would appear that your LCD screen is broken. That's the only way these kinds of lines appear.
You need to replace the screen.

1. LCD Monitor has a vertical blue line on the right side about 1mm thick. 2. After starting the PC, it takes atleast 20 minutes for the screen to open (in the meantime the screen is white in colour)

1. the defect is in the lcd panel itself - the controlling chip has failed and cannot be repaired. You need a new monitor or use this one as is.
1. the drivers for the video card, and god knows what else, are severely corrupted. When the problem is that bad the only sure way to fix it is to reinstall Windows. From scratch.

My ViewSonic monitor is having an issue with blurring lines. Anything on the left or middle of the screen blurs to the right in a faded color, extremely noticable when I open MS Paint and fill the left...

This is a tipical flyback defect circuit, the lines can 1st appear on top/bottom of screen, then can increase to center. Send monitor to repair center, for check and repair. You can test with a tv test signal.

My monitor has a yellow line running down the middle

This is a bad LCD panel. If it is still under warranty, your best bet is to have it replaced again. The only fix is to replace the actual panel and that would cost more than a new monitor.

My toshiba laptop has a thick white line down the screen

The normal cause of lines across the LCD of a laptop is a damaged video cable. The unusual cause would be the video card itself.

To determine which item is at fault, you need only attach an external monitor to your laptop's video-out, and then swap your monitor view to 'both' or mirrored (usually just the function key (FN), plus one of the Fkeys...look for an off-blue picture of a monitor on the Fkeys).

If the lines across the screen also appear on an external monitor, then the video card is damaged.

If the lines only appear on the laptop's LCD, but not the external monitor, then just the laptop's internal video cable is damaged.

Hope this helps.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Although it could be a screen problem, it is more likely either a loose connection on the inside of the LCD or the video inverter itself which is a board that the LCD attaches to before going to the motherboard. Try hooking it up to an external monitor and if it doesn't do it on that, then we know its not the video card / video output. After that it would be what I spoke of above.
