The OS itself does not contain wifi. Wifi is hardware that is installed in the device. AS far as the OS is concerned, yes the OS does support the wifi networking protocols. You MAY have to load the wifi adapter driver(s) for you device if Windows does not have a native one that is compatible, however. You can determine whether or not the driver is installed by going to the DEVICE MANAGER and looking at NETWORK ADAPTERS. If there is no wireless adapter present or there is an exclamation mark alongside the adapter, then you need to load the driver to get wifi functionality within the OS.
here's the link I found that the Ralink RT73 driver seems to work with the Netopia TER/GUSB-N1. I found a form about how to install on a MAC maybe it will be helpful to you
Hi. Make sure that all drivers are installed and the wireless card switch is turn on. Try Disabling/Enabling the wireless card by pressing the Fn + F5 key.
Hi There, I don't know if this is the same problem you are having but one of the staff from my office was bumping the switch on the side of his laptop and turning off wireless support. When you look in the device manager you don't see anything because it is turned off. He would bump it again in a few days and it would magically come back. Not all laptops have a switch like this. Some have a function key combination you press to turn wireless on and off but you can't still trigger that by accident but not as easily as a button on the side of the case.
well..go to the website for that adapter, and get the latest drivers..the ones on that CD are most likely not up to date with the Service Pack 1 released on vista in last few months..
Enter your IP address? If not go to http://whatismyip.com/ and enter that manually into your internet settings, on the last tab on the right of the dashboard. If the wireless adapter isn't reading the signal then you might have to reposition your router so it receives the signal.
