50c is too high. Anyway, either you have a problem with your memory, cd drive, or hdd.

I bought a HP 6710f Pavillion desktop, running windows 7, and found out it only has a 250 watt power supply. I turned around and bought an Antec Greenwatts 500 watt ATX 12v v2.3 psu to install for future...

Presuming you mean the Earthwatts 500:
Should work, though the Earthwatts has the 24 pin ATX instead of the 20-pin.
You just need to snap the 24-pin connector apart to make it work as a 20-pin. It can be snapped back together for future motherboards.
The Bestec is just a standard ATX power supply

Turn on the computer nothing happen then smell burning from the power supply! turned off right away.

That power supply is probably dead. try your motherboard witha known-to-be-good power supply to determine if your system has survived. IN my experience the failrate for antec sp450 watt psu is close to 40% over 4 years (300 pc:s at university), so there is a high probability that your psu is unrecoverable.

    Pc keeps rebooting

Try re-installing the operating system. It is possible it possible OS is not installed properly. ([email protected])

    Connection question

It is for the Fan RPM Monitor according to Antec.Check your motherboard for a psu fan connection. Hope this helps & please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.

    Memory Modules

Short answer is no. You can not run PC3200 DDR 400MHz memory. The fastest memory the motherboard can run in the,
    (Biostar M7VIG 400) is PC2700 DDR 333MHz.
If you do not have you're manual, you can download it by clicking on this link:

    Good Luck!

    Problem with DDR

If the memory is good (test it on another comp. ) it may be possible that the motherboard does not support that type of memory (happens !! ), or it supports that quantity of memory only on one slot . U must get the motherboard;s manual and read there if they are any particularities..... (sometimes , very rarely, there are BIOS settings ...that may interfere ... )

How to turn off on board graphics card

get into the bios of your computer. (look it up on the internet if you don't know how) search around, there should be a setting in there for onboard graphics. most likely in a "devices" or "advanced devices". this is just off memory but keep searching and don't play around with other settings. ^^

    Upgrading power supply

The next time you get a PSU. Tell them what you have. Apparently you got one that is not compatible with your compaq. The power (500 wattage) will work with your MB.
Get an OEM PSU from Compaq(HP).
