SOURCE: My InFocus 4805 SP projector is showing just black and white

If you have any video at all and it's only Black and white there is a 99.99% chance that your Color Wheel has lost all of it's glass color filters.
You can confirm this by removing the lamp. then look straight into the projector where the lamp was and you should see the color wheel of colored glass segments (Red, Green and blue) I believe you won't see them because they came off of the wheel.
Also if you lift up the projector and turn it around in various angles and you will hear the small pieces of broken glass from the color wheel.
Unfortunately you will need to take it to an authorized service center for repair. Be prepared to spend upwards of $300 for the repair.

Cheers

Why are there lots of black dots on the screen?

Those "black dots" are either dirt on the inside of the projector or, more likely, dead pixels on the LCD light valve chip.

Appearing pixel white dots

DLP CHIP starting to fail its like a lcd screen. but only an inch long. the light from the bulb transfers it into light but the heat can cook the DLP if the fan is not cooling the heat down.... i'm afraid if this is going its no fixable only replace and these can cost a bit. some times more than a new unit. I replaced one in a samsung model and had to have it imported then got hit with the import tax.as well so will not be doing that again.

White dots on the screen

Need more info. But initial suspicion is there is a problem with your projector.

Are they stationary and always in the same position? You may have bad pixels.

Are the dots there with no signal going to the projector?

What is connected the the projector? Detail the video path - try all the sources. The dots still there and in the same position on all sources?

It is probably your projector.

If some of your sources are fine - the problem might be from a connected source.

Hope this helps.

I am getting small white dots on the screen and they are increasing in number

sounds like pixel failure. The DMD chip needs replacing. Get a quote from the infocus agent to make the repair before you decide if it's worth it.

if these are pixel shaped dots then the DMD chip is most likely faulty

Little white and gray dots started appearing on the screen it looks like star constellations??

If the dots are twinkling then you have bad pixels, if they don't twinkle I'd say there is dust built up in the optics and needs to be cleaned, which to do properly the top needs to be removed to allow access to the optical engine to do this. I recommend keeping the unit in a plastic bag when not in use to prevent dust build up.

My InFocus IN76 just started displaying yellow and white dots.

are the dots pixelated or blurred? if they are pixelated, you have a dmd chip issue and will have to replace the whole optical engine. if they are blurred, it is an optics problem, most likely the colorwheel. that can be replaced individually. you can get parts from an infocus service center or send it in to one for repair. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com

Sounds like the LCD inside is dying and you're losing pixels. Bummer.
