2007 Cadillac escalade makes loud noise when starting the car. Sounds like the air suspension on a navigator when it adjusts, but louder. Lasts maybe 20 seconds. Happened 3-4 times within the year. Any suggestions?

well it can still be anything, locating a steering/suspension noise can be hard. Based on what you typed, what first comes to mind is the steering pump is worn out. If it is more of a low whining sound instead of squeaking, its probably the steering pump.

Have a 98- Eddie 4.0 SOHC, 4WD with a 100,000 mi. When driving it has a humming noise, it almost sounds like a bad tire, or a ... I start to hear the humming noise at 20 mph, it is very loud at 40 to 50 mph ... 94 XLT-95 FX4. humming gets louder as speed increases

so what you mean is it wont turn over? do the lights dim in the start mode of ignition switch? sounds like a few hard taps on the starter and maybe it will turn over,, might be you have a bad starter.

Time to take it into the dealer for service.

It could be the fuel pump pressurizing the system. Does the sound stop after a few seconds? If it is the fuel pump then it is a normal sound. Fuel pumps will resonate in the tank when you are low on gas, making them sound louder. If it is more than a hum then I would get it checked out.

Make sure oil level is adequate.

Also, this could be an exhaust leak that is being closed as the manifold and/or block heats up.

What is probably going on is the air suspension has a leak so the compressor is breaking down. So it will run at odd times trying to make up for the times it can not run. What you need to do is look for a conversion kit. The conversion will stop all problems that you are having now and you will never have to worry about it again. I would recommend strutmasters.com. if it makes the noise when you first start and then goes away It is probably the air suspension pump coming on like normal. These pumps have a tendency to be noisy. if there is no noticable problem with the suspension except for the noise I wouldn't worry about unless the noise bothers you.It is about a $500 repair
