The Moen 1222 is the cartridge you want. The 1222 is the OEM number, and the cartridge carries a lifetime warranty. If you call moen at 1-800-buy-moen, they will likely send you a replacement cartridge free of charge. Some wholesale plumbing suppliers will also do it if you act like you know what you are talking about, and they don't have an aversion to "retail" customers.
I am not familiar with that cartridge, but most hardware stores and plumbing supply houses should have Moen parts. #'s 1224, 1225, 1200 and 1222 are the cartridges I'm familiar with.Bring the part with you.
Take a look inside the slot where the cartridge sits and make sure it looks like a slot by the side of it in case a part has been pulled up by the old cartridge as you took it out.
See if the old cartidge fits OK. If it does, check that the new cartridge is exactly the same part number as the old one and that the 2 cartridges have exactly the same dimensions and no extra protrusions on the new cartridge.
If you still have the old color cartridge, I would put it back in to see if the message goes away. It is likely that it is your new cartridge or something wrong with the housing that the cartridge is seated into. If you don't have the old cartridge, another new cartridge installed would determine if it is the cartridge or something to do with the housing. If after putting a different cartridge in the printer, you get the same message, then it is the housing.
