I have just changed the ink cartridges for the first time on my new Epson R265. Initially there was a quick flash showing the replaced cartridges were full. Now all of the cartridges register only a quarter full even though it has had little use. I am using compatible cartridges from Choice Stationery and I have to say that I never had any problems with them on my previous printer.
Try with the original catridge or clean the socket of catridge case with tissue paper and see
Firstly do not regard the 'electronic' fudge as anything more than a 'screen toy' It has little relation to the actual state of your carts. Download ssclgcom The epson utility, installel the program and right click on the taskbar icon- here you will be able to find various utilities including cartridge re-set you also purchase a ZAP-IT resetter tool form Choice.
This seems to be a "feature" of this printer with compatible cartridges although I'm sure it wouldn't be possible to get Epson to admit it. I have seen the same thing on other R265s and I haven't found a solution a yet. As far as I know, it doesn't affect printing - as long as there's actually ink in the cartridges it will print, despite what the Epson Status Monitor says, but YMMV.

Thank you to jackboy and daverh.
I tried to download ssclgcom but using google the only reference to it was found on an Italian web page which meant nothing to me.
I also looked on the Choice Stationery website for ZAP-IT but to no avail.
I have also tried re-installing the software and tried to find the STATUS MONITOR utility which according to Epson should be on the intallation disk.
I think perhaps daverh is right - there is no solution!
Thank you for that suggestion mukhtar. Unfortunately I do not have the original cartridges anymore but next time I change them I will try your suggestion.
Thanks again.
