Your radio is either stuck in VOX mode, or has a bad PTT button. Sometimes when using an audio device a radio will stick in Tx if the device is plugged in while the radio is turned on. When using any remote mic, earpiece, headset, or audio device be certain the radio is turned off when plugging or unplugging the device.

If no audio device is being used, the next possibility is a sticky or bad PTT button. This can sometimes be just the external button sticking, or it can be the internal button has simply worn out from repeated use.

One final thought, if your radio has programmable VOX, check to see if your programming is correct. VOX features when turned on make the radio Tx when it hears any sound, a voice or ambient noise can cause the radio to transmit.

Best regards.

I have a uniden uh038sx-2 handset and even though both units at set to same channels and all the planets are aligned, neither of them will send or receive. When you use one it goes int TX mode and th

First thing there are two settings that must be exactly the same or they won't talk to each other. 1st: Channel. You stated above that the channels are the same so lets move on to # 2: Different manufacturers call it different names but what you are looking for is the "privacy code" or "PL". If these are different on the two radios they will never (by theory) talk to each other.
A different "privacy code" allows your family to be close to my family using the same frequency without interfering with each other. In plan english, I won't hear you and you won't hear me because the "privacy code" is different even though the frequency (channel) is the same.

How to remove RX icon on Uniden UH038SX-2

The RX indicates that it's receiving, as opposed to the TX when it's transmitting. It's normal for one of them to appear on the screen whenever the unit's turned on.

If you need a manual, you may download a copy here.

How to put the police channel on my uniden VH038SX-2NB

Hi Shorty,

Uniden UH038sx-2nb, is the make/model.

Unfortunately, what you have is a designated UHF CB radio, that can't be programmed with frequencies outside of the UHF CB band.
Well, not without stuffing the unit up, anyway.

Why would you want to program police frequencies into a 2-way radio anyway, The fact that police are moving or have moved to digital, means you won't hear anything anyway., so why bother?

That's what radio scanners were used for, until the cops found out, and started changing to Digital mode operations.

I really can't see the point of modifying and most likely destroying an otherwise perfectly working radio.

Sorry, I couldn't be more helpful, but that's life.

Regards,
Peter

Are the red lights on the uniden uh038sx charger supposed to go out when the battery pack is completely charged?

I still don't know if the light is supposed to go out but rereading the info that came with the radios it will take about 16 hours to fully charge the batteries.
I will take that as correct and not worry anyone with the query?
Thanks for responding to my request.

Uniden uh038sx-2

hello there,
Well you have not supplied much information-------- How ever I will give it ago, it seems as if you have a microphone problem. If you have two such radios do the Microphones unplug from the actual Radio, if so interchange them and see if the other Radio produces the same sympton then it's probable it is in the Microphone! If you cannot exchange microphone as I suggest I am afraid it will need servicing by some one confident to carry it out.
Best of luck,
John
